My in laws family are very co operative

    I am talking about the time when there were no mixies, no washing machine, TV etc. in our house.

    Since my husband's family is very big , four brothers and eight sisters, for any small function also the house will be crowded with the sisters, brothers and their family . I am talking about my husband's sisters and brothers who stay in Mumbai and Pune.

    Those days when we did not have mixies, washing machine, TV etc. in myhusband's family everyone used to work together. Cooking will be done by everyone , one person doing the cooking, some cutting the vegetables, one person grinding etc. etc. In between there will be some humorous talks also. It was fun watching everything. Any work was done together, not it is your work or my work . Its our work, our family that was the spirit. Even washing clothes will be done by all the ladies together. I have never seen so much co operation among the ladies in a house. Usually the bahu's who come to the house will think of herself only and do her work. Buthere all are prepared to do anywork and work together. Those days no mixies so everything has to be grounded in Attukal.

    Now a days no problem mixie is there, or grinder is there , washing machine is there to wash the clothes , so less work for the ladies.

    There will be small fights in between the siblings but there is love also between them and whenever any function is there all are ready to do any work. But now a days with marriages given on contract some work is reduced

    very true viji aunty....

    but actually nowadays people have either one of two children... so when we all come together its either five or six only....

    But i enjoy attending functions at MIL place.... grandmother (MIL's mother), chitti's (MIL's sister) all live nearby so they all come and we together cook and do all arrangements for functions or poojas....

    wow you really had a good SILs and BILs. That is more important camaraderie among siblings.

    Even in our house if we have functions, my SILs will come, and they will also help in kitchen. Infact i will tell them dont bother please sit, but they will help around.

    Hi Aunty very nice to read your post.

    At home too since all were in jobs i.e. SIL, co-sis etc. on ordinary days we never used to visit each other that frequently. But then whenever there is an occasion in any place, we all assemble and help each other and that is really like a get-together opportunity for us.

    Dear Viji,
    You have explained neatly, how in those days work was shared among all family members without any ego.I also enjoyed that kind. But now for cooking we arrange caters and other works being done by machines.At that time we were bonded by love and affection.
    Now also it is there but people are running behind time.
