A Rule is a Rule is a Rule!

My DS was at home, reading a book checked out from his kindergarten school library. I offered him a banana.

He took a bite and exclaimed, "Wait a minute! I can't eat anything while I read this book".

I didn't get it. There have been numerous times he had eaten something while reading a book. Infact, DH & I used to pester him to put down any book while eating, at times. Now what's with the sudden enlightenment?!:idea

He continued, "Don't you know, this Morning I signed a paper agreeing to not eat while reading the book?"

I still didn't get it. "What paper?", I asked.

"The library rules paper - my Teacher gave at school. It says, I should not eat while reading the school library book! Well, I signed it!"

There! My little boy is responsible or what?! Or.. is that a novel excuse to defer the banana?! I better go with the first guess.

True mstrue!i also have this rule at my home.and it applies to everyone at home-papa,mumma and kids.regs-anu

Wish he respected the rule..But i used to find such clever excuses and still ..when it comes to fruits

I remember the Jam adv in which the boy teaches his dad about 'sharing'

Very smart boy must be. He is being good while following the rule and also taking an excuse (if he really did not need that banana at that time) to stay away from eating the banana!!!

He is a very picky eater. And he did corner me.. I had to let go that banana that day. :hide:
