Who does more impulsive shopping........you or your spouse?

In our case, we take turns in this matter........:rotfl
Sometimes, it is me who cannot resist buying something which is totally useless in my kitchen but just because I admired the make, finish or even its invention.........:bonk

And other times, Dh simply picks up something equally useless thinking we may need it sometime in the future.:spin

Each time one of us makes that choice, the other one has to pass his/her judgment.................but the mistake repeats............:drowning

Its ME.But I always see to it that its on sale and I can afford it. If its online, I see to it that it comes with minimum shipping or free shipping even if the product is a mere 3-4 $.:rant:rant

I do a lot of impulsive buying, and the things I buy are usually pretty cheap (on sale). My DH never says no to anything I buy.

On the other hand, DH rarely wants to buy something that I think is unnecessary. But since he never says no to me, I can't say no to his impulsive buying. But the catch here is, even though DH very rarely does impulsive buying, his items are pretty costly. :bonk

I am notorious in this regard. And most of the things that catch my fancy are stuff that I see at other people's houses - right from a dish drying cloth to some gadget! This way, I have 5 pressure cookers, 3 rice cookers, a thousand oil dispensers, a million peelers and random knick-knacks some of which I don't even remember the purpose of!!!!!!

The end result is that I have a garage full of junk that I want to dispose off and strict instructions from husband to not buy anything without consulting with him first to evaluate if our life can go on the same way without that particular thing I want to buy!

Sita, my husband is similar to your dh. His selection and shopping is waayyy expensive than mine.

Pear tree.....That is too much! When it comes to pots and pans, even I am like you....end up buying even without any need for it.

Sometimes, when I get in savings mode, I sit and try to figure out how much wastage that was and really repent for some days straight but then again go back to the old habit.....:hide:

I know :-( My mom and mom-in-law often comment that what they took 20+ years to accumulate I have managed to accomplish in under 4 yrs of marriage :hide: Now that we are expecting a baby, I am trying to get rid of all the clutter before we start accumulating all the baby stuff!!!! :drowning

    My impulsive shopping has ended!!
I realised that when ever I was buying "STUFF" either I was trying to fill a void with materialistic stuff that was taking up space in my home which I had no need for OR I was spending money that I could have put towards my retirement. I still window shop and have this rule... let me think about it for at least one day before I buy it. 9 out of 10 times I really don't have use for it. So I come out a winner.

    Thanks,
    OOPALL.
