We should be economic but at the same time enjoy life also

    In this world some people are very economic and some spend a lot and don’t know how to be economic.
    Some people act as if they are going to take everything when they are going to leave this world. Its good to be economic but should not be too economic. Some are economic because they have struggled all through their life so they are always in the habit of saving and they are very particular in spending money. In this way they don’t enjoy life they live without any worldly pleasures, buy only what is necessary that too whatever they buy will be either second hand or the price will be minimum. They wont give anything to anyone and don’t expect also from anyone anything
    Whereas some are there who don’t save anything spend everything. They are very generous in giving anything to anyone . They enjoy life to the maximum. These people are to be taught how to be economic and keep something for the future. Now a days credit cards are there. They buy anything through credit cards and then they don’t have money to pay .
    I believe in give to the world the best you have and the best will come back to you. I have experienced this also By God's grace I have got the best in life. God has always showered his blessings to me. I always had good friends who were alway with me and gave me encouragement always.When I was working I used to spend a lot and also save, enjoyed life to the fullest and now since I am retired I cant buy like before but I am satisfied with what I have.
    We need not be very economic nor spend too much . We should enjoy life but save for the future also.

    Well said that some are too economic and some real spendthrifts.
    Well I have seen a nice mix of this in my DH.

    In early days when my DS was an infant and I had to depend on my mother for taking care of my son (since MIL was out of station), whenever we go out my DH used to immediately call for auto only. Though we could wait and go by bus he used to think his family should be comfortable. That way I thought he was spending.

    At the same time, when my DD wants to go for picnic from school, college, he used to comment, we have already seen the place why to spend money unnecessarily. Seeing the place is different from enjoying the same place with the company of friends. Only after lot of pleading, he used to allow her. Even today, I had to attend an officer's son's wedding. He said take auto - to and fro. Now this was too much. Why spend unnecessarily on auto. To reach on time, while going I took an auto and returned by bus.

    I too concur with you aunty. We should neither be miserly nor be lavish. We should enjoy life to its fullest using our prudence, for we are not going to carry anything with us. We should save sufficiently for our children. Nowadays we give them good education also. Then they should come up in life. We as parents should also enjoy life not sacrifice everything for our kids. If we miss our days, we can't get them back later.

    Thanks for your first fb Good to know your db is having both the qualities.
    Calling for an auto when you were taking your child along with you shows his caring for you, that you should not struggle going in bus. Not giving money for picnic he must be thinking why to send for picnic with others, he himself can take her for a picnic. My dh also never used to like sending our children for picnic. But somehow we used to make him understand and send them to picnic so that they canenjoy and see different places also.

    Well said.We shouldlearn to be economic in life, spend on what is necessary, not buy bcs it is on sale and we dont need it.

    i am retired like u, i never spent much when i was earning, but now the nest has grown, and i amspending well, something akin to i let the chicken give eggs, and now the eggs are feeding me well:biglaugh

    cant buy like before but I am satisfied with what I have.

    Very well said. I completely agree with Lakshmi that we need to tread the middle path or buy only what we require or occasionally luxury items and dont go gaga over each new product.

    At the same time, I have seen a person very close in my family circle who is at the other end of being very economic. Though he is retired without any responsibilities left too full fill and lots of money in his bank account with a good amount of pension from govt not to be worried till last day, he doesnt spend even at the necessary things.

    I feel sorry that he is unable to enjoy his own hard earned money for himself.

    True some people if they have enough money to spend also they dont spend and dont enjoy life. They always think of saving whatever they earn. Even some young men are there who earn a lot but before spending think twice. For whatever we have to spend we should spend .

    Where it is necessary to spend, we should not be economic as you have said but I know so many people who are "Penny wise but Pound foolish". Just wish they learn the lesson soon...
