Looking for Volunteer jobs

Hi, I am in Schaumburg, Chicago. Currently on H4 visa and looking for volunteer jobs. Quite interested in working in universities as an assistant. Can anyone help me on how to get to know whether there are any opportunities available. Can anyone give me some more light on this
