Shibu has completed seven months now. we give her veggies mashed/rice kanji (thick)/nestum(3 scoops with BM) (not more than 2 and half Tbsps)in the morning around 11 am and banana/nestum in the afternoon around 3pm..

I somehow feel this os not enough for her and feeling i am too slow in introducing food to her.. I am also confused if I should start giving three meals a day...

She has never been a unhappy baby till now.. and I have never seen crying or being cranky with no reasons.. but nowadays she is too cranky and always wants to be carried..so i was worrying if she is not full..

Please tell ne what else I can start and also a good schedule... also let me know the amount of food that I should gie her in each meal

Mine is soon to be 7months, i will share my DS's food routines :)

    12.30pm - Veg/fruit puree
Veg - Carrots, potato, red pumpkin, beans, peas so far
Fruits - Apple/Pear purees, pome juice
8pm - Easum 3 scoops mixed with water or watery veg soups

Planning to introduce him the below.

    9.30am - Ragi
8pm - wheat chapathi, soaked in hot water/Milk whichever he is OK with. First am gonna give only the top layer of the chapathi, just one spoon a day, slowly increase to how much ever he takes. After 8months or so, you can give them tiny pieces of plain chapathis even, to chew on :))

Vidyaa - Mine is 6 mo and I was feeling the same until 2 days back.
I give her ragi+banana/some fruit/mashed veggies for lunch (12:30-1:00pm) - ONLY one feed.

But I am thinking of giving mashed veggies around 6 pm from next week onwards.
I feel 3 feeds is too much now. Try and see if you can wait for anaother month atleast.

My personal experience is that she is not really full with mashed veggies. So u can try mashed veggies + nestum/kanji. Also, can you not postpone the 3pm food to a little later .... say by 6pm?

vidya instead of introducing 3 meals can u try using dalia? cook it with veggies in pressure cooker, and its very filling too.

about crankiness, could that just be separation anxiety? or maybe heat?zoey is cranky too sometimes these days.n i know heat is bothering her.she is only in her diapers all day, i seldom put clothes on her, except nights n evenings.
i feel rice is digested easily and is probably less filling if she is craving for more. try oats, dalia and such n introduce gluten slowly. thats wat i am going to do

I think dalia is pottukadalai in tamil.Don't worry about the weight increase.Ragi,Dhal+rice,Potato would make them increase weight.Have you tried Idli.It is also good to try at 7th month.

My LO hasn't increased weight too. Some gain by 9 months as they are on solids most of the time after 9 months.

priya, try mixing formula and BM n see if she takes? try a different brand of FM/ different bottle? pigeon peristaltic is super soft and baby started taking bottle better. we are not bottling her anymore though .
at 7 months actually if ur baby is doing well. u can start suji kheer. suji upma, dalia with veggies, or dalia with dates.
i am just copy pasting recipes from internet since i am pressed for time, but my mom gave me more or less similar recipes, yet to try on zoey a month or more later.

    suji kheer
take 100 ml milk in a pan, add 1 tsp roasted suji and little jaggery/sugar constantly stir and cook till suji is cooked (approx 5 min ). if LO takes without sugar even better!

    suji upma
    Suji upma

    Vegetarian

    Good source of protein

    Ingredients
    15gm suji
    1-2 cups water

This is a highly nutritious breakfast meal.

    Method
Dry roast 1-2 tsp of suji in a clean pan till it turns brown.
Keep stirring constantly to avoid burning.
Add water and bring to a boil.
To make upma of pouring consistency add more water.

    Vegetable Suji Upma

    Vegetarian

    Good source of protein, vitamins

    Ingredients
    15gm suji
    1-2 cups water
    Pureed vegetables

    Method
Dry roast about 15 gm suji (without oil) in a clean dry pan till it turns brown.
Cook on low flame and keep stirring continuously otherwise the suji will burn. Keep aside.
In a separate pan add about 1 tsp of butter/ghee.
When the butter/ghee melts, add vegetable puree and fry.
Add water and suji. Cook the mixture on a low flame till the time suji grains absorb water.
Keep stirring so that lumps do not form.
Serve checking the temperature of the food.

Quick tip: As your baby gets older substitute pureed vegetables with finely chopped/diced vegetables. If you want suji upma to be of pouring consistency, then don’t let the water dry completely. If you want suji upma to be thicker and creamier, then let the water be absorbed completely.

    Khichri

    Vegetarian

Good source of protein, vitamins, calcium and starch

    Ingredients
1 tablespoon (split yellow or green moong daal)
    2 tablespoons rice
    A pinch of turmeric
2 cups water (use vegetable stock as a variation)

Start with khichri a week or two after your baby has adjusted to simple rice cereal and mashed rice.

    Method
Wash and soak the rice and daal for about half an hour.
Add turmeric powder and cook in a pressure cooker for about 2-3 whistles.
    Mash well and serve.

    Dalia porridge.(broken wheat)
soak dalia for 1 hour. then make khichdi, with veggies in pressure cooker. OR
roast the daliya in ghee for couple of minutes then add dal+vege's and enough water for pressure cook, then just grind it.

i am not sure when will i start this suji kheer for LO. maybe around 7.5 months or so... but if ur baby can handle little cows milk well, then u may start, that is if u are already adding cows milk to ragi etc.

also the way i wld introduce these wld be
khichri with veggies, a little ghee>dalia with veggies >suji upma>suji kheer>dalia kheer with dates

at 7 months oats is also a good meal. and sindhu had once suggested to cook oats with veggies... like khichri
