    Hi Jaya,
I understand you would be staying in Solna... and require a nanny to take care of your kid. Are you looking out for day care options?

    Regards,
    MG

    Hi Jaya,

Are you still in Sweden? Were you able to find a nanny for your son. I too may be relocating to Stockholm in July...would be great to hear about your experience of life in Stockholm!

    Hello Jaya,
Great that you are relocating to Stockholm, and that too in Solna. ?I am putting up in Solna. I wonder if we get nannys here..Guess no, and child has to go to forskola/ dagis (pre school/ day care centres). My child is 19 month old and has started going to one. They take kids from 1 year of age. The queue for admission is not less that 4 months.

    Hello everybody

I am Shashi from chennai, India.I am currently in US. I will be moving to Södertälje, Sweden along with my husband and 2 year old son there by the end of nov 2011. I am totally new to this place.

I would like to know information about Apartment rentals(furnished),preschool education for my 2 year old son ,indian grocery stores, temples and whether electrical items like mixer grinders bought in India will be suitable there. Are there Indians in Södertälje?

Would also like to know about the weather conditions?

    Hoping to get a reply.

    Best
    Shashi

    hi all,

i need some info urgently..my husband might take up job offer n move to Lund.. we have a son 6 yrs old.. few things i would like to know..

    * do people speak English their? as some people have been telling us that unless we learn Swedish v cant do anything their?

    * i would be putting my son in international school as he is going currently also in international school.. what r approx fee.

    * avg rental of a gud 2/ 3 bedroom house in Lund ?? v have heard some horrifying stories about 4-9 mths of waiting for getting apt on rent.. is it that difficult to find a decent place to raise a family..

    * what is gud salary to take up a offer..

    * and most importantly is their an active Indian community there..n how easy or difficult wud it b for a child to integrate into the new culture n society..

thanks.. waiting for replies..so that v can make a informed decision..

    regards
    mrins

    Dear Mrins,

After reading your post, I would advice that let your husband go initially, and you and your son could join him later. The reaon being that, its very difficult to find a suitable house initially,as you may have no sufficient contacts in Lund. Moreover, the weather would be gettng very cold by October, and severe by December, as this was the case in 2010.

Let you husband go and settle down with the house. In the meantime, he wll get to know how long your son will have to wait to get an admission in the international school. And above all, he will get an idea of what are things that you would require at Lund. Most of us travel with all our traditional clothes, vessels etc., when these are hardly required. For the weather at Lund, the traditional clothes would be hardly of any use, and most of the rented apartments have the basic crockery provided.

Going back to your questions, the English speaking community would be very few , but you might not have much of trouble, as most of the youngsters do speak English. Regarding salary offer and school fees, I would not be able to contribute much on that.

Saying all that, I must admit, its a beautiful place to live in terms of scenery, cleanliness, etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Morning Glory
