There is a Samithi in Mulund in Bombay which is formed by the South Indian Brahmins to help the family when someone expires in anyone's family. The Samithi has all Senior Citizens except for a few middle aged men. If the priest is not there they arrange for it, one person gets the call and he informs the other persons, they buy the things whatever is necessary for the last rites, the death certificate is arranged by them, everything is done perfect by them. When the priest comes he has to only do the rites. They go for this service any time whether morning or evening. My husband is also an active member in the Samithi. They have a place where the last rites are performed for people who are not able to perform at home. Whenever any pooja like Narayaneeyam or other poojas are there , these Senior Citizens help in serving food to the public.
Very commendable work Viji ! CONGRATULATIONS to your husband for actively participating in such social service and to you also my friend, for supporting him. :thumbsup
Hi viji, That is amazing. That is the best service anybody has to do. Wonderful that your hus is also a part in that samithi. ganges
Dear Viji, I salute your DH and his other senior friends who are doing this noble job without minding their age and time. For this only people are needed as amoral support. God bless your DH and his friends for this selfless service. Selfless service alone gives the needed strength and courage to awaken the sleeping humanity in one's heart. Service is the highest spiritual discipline. Prayer and meditation, or knowledge of scripture and Vedanta (holy scriptures of India), cannot help you reach the goal as quickly as service can. Service has a double effect, it extinguishes the ego and gives bliss. with love pad
Dear Ganges Ya all are 60 plus and always ready to go anywhere anytime for help. Thanks for being here love viji
