Traveler's life, a Child's play??

No, am not talking about our dear, sweet Latha

Hope you guys heard the news.... a child was allowed to direct planes from the control tower of New York's JFK, one of the world's busiest airports.

Two controllers have been suspended while the Federal Aviation Authority investigates the incident which took place during a week-long school break. The investigation began after tapes of the child's conversation were posted on the internet. The voice can be heard making five transmissions to pilots preparing for take off on February 17.

In one exchange, the child can be heard saying, "JetBlue 171 contact departure."
The pilot responds: "Over to departure JetBlue 171, awesome job."
A male voice in the tower then says: "That's what you get, guys, when the kids are out of school."

The child later clears another plane for take off, and says, "Adios, amigo."

The FAA said : "Pending the outcome of our investigation, the employees involved in this incident are not controlling air traffic."
It added: "This behaviour is not acceptable."

WTH is wrong with these people???

Unbelievable! What was this - take your kid to work day or what.

We hear maximum security check in place blah blah blah at the airport for the passengers but what about these employees...how could they even let this happen without thinking of the consequences.

This is not a child's play!

hi,

I too saw this on the news today. This is so scary. As it is, when I enter a plane I feel that I'm stuck in this steel tube and hope the pilots are good. This makes me even more nervous. They say common sense is very uncommon - this really makes me believe it.

Just was reading the news about it.

Infact one of the pilot's comment was, "It is a controlled situation and the father is caring enough to bring the child to work". Wow!! what a comment? Previous was the crash in hudson river due to the pilot chatting on phone with his girl friend, now its child's play. I guess these things should be taken seriously as it is lot of life that's involved.

Wow...what a proud dad, bringing his kid to work????? Not only bringing him to work but also make him do his work.....Is it not child labour?????????????
