    Money Vs Happiness

Today there was this interesting piece of news on the TOI dt 10/2/10

Karl Rabeder, a businessman from Austria, who owns an empire worth 3 million pounds( appx Indian Rupees Twenty Five Crores) , has decided to give it all away, and retire in a hut in the mountains. His empire includes 17 hectares of lake looking land worth 6,13,000 pounds, He has already got rid of six gliders valued at 3,50,000 pounds, and a luxury Audi worth 44,000 pounds , and many other things.

He says money has brought him misery, and he wants to find happiness in a hut in the mountains.!!!!!!!!!!

This set my mind thinking, even I want to find happiness, swear, not that I am unhappy, but I want to be more happy, but I don’t have that kind of dough to give away, u see !

I don’t know why some people are allergic to money.Yes I know people are allergic to Sea Food, as is my cousin, he got rashes all over his body and it took him years to cure it, so he is mortified of sea food. But allergic to money, well very few I have found.

Money is something to be respected.Money is very important in life, be it black or white, when u are undergoing an operation, the doctor does not ask u the colour of yur money, he wants yr money before they proceed to cut u up.Money is need to buy those expensive medicines, that the cancer patients need day in and day out.

Tiger Woods was not that good looking, for the babes to fall over him by the dozens, but it was the the money that he had, which attracts these dames. And it is this money that keeps them quiet.

Money upgrades u from cattle class to first class, as Shashi Thoroor informed us on his tweets.Vijay Malaya has shown us that money can buy him yatches, have the prettiest of the ladies posing in the skimpiest of the bikinis for his KF calendars, having less money, means u drink Royal Stag like me and drive a Maruti Van, and for donkey’s years smoke the common wills.

My Dad taught me a very important lesson around 20 years back.I was broke those days, and used to buy smuggled Whiskey, which was around half the market price.Dad told me, kamal don’t buy this stuff, it could be adulterated, and it could cost u your life.Keep any vice, he said, provided u can afford it, otherwise leave it. It hit me that day, and I stopped doing that thing.

Another thing he told me, seeing me cut down on quality of essentials, like if Harsha told me , kamal go buy Postman oil 15 kgs can for 700, I would land up buying some Maruti brand of Gujerat, for 500, for 200 meant a lot to me those days.(it still does ).And harsha used to hate the taste of the groundnut oil of these companies.

So Dad told me, Kamal, how much can a person cut down on his expenses. We all know that every year, staff will ask more, petrol ,electricity, gas cylinder all will go up, what will u cut down on, make Harsha cook on Stove and kerosene ?

He taught me a lesson, which I have not forgotton to this date, and never will.He said, kamal, increase the line of earning so high, that it is way above the expense line, so the expenses become irrereverant in your life !

Hence dear friends , money is very important in life, at least to me. At this stage it does not matter to me, if tomatoes are 40 a kilo or 10 a kilo, we eat what we want to eat. But I still make do with what I used to then, that is wills cigarettes, Royal Stag, the same fish, no girlfriends habits, they are very expensive to maintain, as I have seen Tiger Woods , and the UK footballer Terry, I avoid scotch, 5 stars, gambling in Clubs with strangers, for the rest I have enough. It is money that allows me to sleep in the cool comforts in the summers, to travel by flight instead of trains.

But as they say, money brings misery, and as this Austrian also says, so I request all my friends, to pass on their money and misery to me, if not now, then in you r Will, for what is a friend for , if he will not share your troubles and misery, along with money !!!.

So when any one of u is tired of money, always remember Kamal, let my grinning face come in front of u, don’t give it to any pandit, or charity, for charity begins at home, and home means me !

And all these babes, if u are dreaming of them, come to money, not your personality !
I just love money, the colour the smell , everything about money, and no wonder Laxmi Devi is smiling again as she is reading this blog, and she had the chociest of the expletives for this fellow who is giving it all away.

    Smile.

    KAMAL MAHTANI

A Man was watching a cricket match, and during Ads was changing the channels when he comes across a porno channel, and his wife happened to come in.

Man asks wife, Should I watch this ****, or cricket ?
Wife – Watch ****, for u already know how to play cricket !

    My dear Kamal
Thank God you "don’t have that kind of dough to give away".
Otherwise you would have given everything to me and transferred all your misery to me! I lead a simple life. I just have Chivas Regal these days but only at others' cost!

It is interesting that you have titled this eye opener as 'Money vs Happiness'. That explains your clear stand in the matter that money and happiness are always ranged against each other. Your dad has been extremely wise. No wonder that you have streaks of brilliance particularly in the evenings with the 'stuff' doing its work inside you!
A great thought provoking piece of writing!

    Dear Kamalji...
    I as usual... :rotfl:rotfl
well incase our friend at IL and your other well wishers do decide to will you all their money and "misery" I'm sure you will not know what to do it the extra dough you get in... so to save yourself from all the temptations & vices aka tiger woods and tiwari i suggest you should part with 25% to me ... not more otherwise I may be tempted tooo!!!

I totally agree that we need enough money to live well and enjoy our lives and have savings but more than that is what causes misery and attracts unnecessary attention... as incase of this austrian business magnate or Tiger woods etc...

    your jokes are getting naughty!!

    Dear Kamalji,
Really a wonderful post. You have brought out the feelings of a human being caught between money and happiness in the real sense. What i feel is
it seems only natural that happiness should flow from having more money. Even if they don't admit it, people still behave as though it were true. More money means you can have what you want and do what you want. The house you dream of? It's yours. The new car you desire? Here are the keys. The freedom to enjoy your favorite pastimes? Here's your racket, the court is down there, just past the pool.Acquiring things like houses and cars only have a transient effect on happiness. People's desires for material possessions crank up at the same, or greater rate, than their salaries. Again, this means that despite considerably more luxurious possessions, people end up no happier. There's even evidence that materialism make us less happy.Acquiring money and status makes us feel satisfied with life. Through the 'focusing illusion' we convince ourselves that satisfaction equals happiness. Unfortunately it doesn't. Even though we appear to have everything, we are left feeling that something is missing, but are unable to identify what that thing is. That thing is simply this: feeling happy. Right now. In the moment.Taht does not mean I can donate the money to Kamalji, I will enjoy the money by getting "Satisfaction":)
    Here is joke :
A young man was having some money problems, and needed $200 to get his car fixed and road-worthy again. But had run out of people to borrow from. So, he calls his parents via the operator, and reverses the charge and says to his dad, "I need to borrow two hundred dollars."
At the other end, his father says, "Sorry, I can't hear you, son, I think there may be a bad line."
The boy shouts, "Two hundred. I need two hundred dollars!"
"Sorry, I still can't hear you clearly," says his father.
The operator cuts in, "Sorry to butt in, but I can hear him perfectly."
The father says, "Oh, good. YOU send him the money!
    with love
    pad

    LOL Kamalji !
I will certainly keep in mind your big grinning face when I have that kind of spare dough to give away. As things stand, right now I can only give you sour dough.

You are so right Kamalji ! Money is not everything in life, its only next to Oxygen .

Go on and celebrate Money, dear friend ! Money can't buy happiness, but it certainly can buy all the miseries you prefer like Wills and Royal Stag .

As I read your words of inspiration and wisdom, I remembered a nice glossy Poster I saw in Archies Shop :

" Money Frees you from doing things you dislike.
Since I dislike doing anything, Money comes handy. "

I din't have the money to buy it, so just memorised the Pearl of Wisdom.

May Laxmi Devi always smile upon, not only your blog, but upon your pocket too.
    :thumbsup

Money brings happyness but up to a certain level , But when it becomes a addiction to have more & more & more than it is money versus happyness. Than one dont find happyness in what he/she have may be crores but want more for sake of wanting.
Than one day the person fedup with it may leave everything to live in a hut.
I dont want that kind of money but want enough to live in comfort without the worry for the market & thanks God for providing it to me.

    Dear Sri,

Firstlu i must say, yr office is damn good to allow u to surf the net, while on duty.sigh ! Wish i had that opportunity.:biglaughIt is an Art to have Chivas Regal at someone else's cost.i too have that art, for all the botles at my home, are brought in by cousins and relatives, who come to stay with me from overseas. They pay for their room at my place by the bottles.HAHA

Well the ideas for the blogs do come in after the so called " Stuff " is inside me.But money is a boon to most, i dont know what is wrong with money, that people give it away.

I read somewhere money is like fire, have enough to warm u, but not so much as to burn u.And 3 million pounds is peanuites over there, and this fellow had all the usless things like a yatch, and gliders.

You cant run away from money, yr home, relatives and find peace in the Himalayas and Kumb Melas.Enjoy the money, and give away to the needy, iof more.Dont insult money, for once scorned like a woman, u have had it.It will never come back.

Always a pleasure top read yr FB, and when it is the first one, it is the icing on the cake, iw anted yr comment to show for long on the board, but soon others came along and yr name disappeared.

and one thing i must say Sri, the FB;s that i get here, are so good, detailed, people give Dil se, and i am haviong a lot of fun here, now with so many good writers coming up, Tubelight, Shiva chaubey,Radhika, Knot to share, and so many others, it is a pleasure to be here whole day.

Wiaitng to see u next month, the bottle i am gettinn, and when we sit, the roof will come down.Jeleous anyone here ? Me and Sri will be together for a few days nextmonth down south for a wedding of a common frined's daughter.

    Regards

    Dear Kaviamma,

I guess k must stand for it.HAHA.25% u want, that is all, ask for 50%, u sell yourself tooc heap.HAHAHAAHAHAHA

Yes if u and me take oer the misery of I Lites we will be doing them a big big favour, nahin, and make our selves some nice moolah:rotfl

But even if u have moer than what u need, u can always help the really needy, why give away the excess and even the necessary part of monmey.what fun to sleep in a hut in the himalayas, with mosquitoes and heat as companions, and be at the receiving end for eating what people will offer u, why not go buy what u want to eat, dand drink and clothes yrself the way u want.

Thanks the the lovely FB K, and let me know yr real name, i am curious, otherwise i will start calling u by other names very soon.:biglaugh:biglaugh

    Regards
