    Hi,
Would you go to for a physical to a male doc? hubby goes to a male doc and he is very good. i have tried many female doctors nearby and not at all satisfied.
what would they do in physical? other than blood tests for cholestrol and sugar?

    Hi chaaral,

I am my hubby go to the same doc for our physicals, and he is really good, in physically all they check is ur BP, and ur heart, chest, eyes with sketherscope, and that's it. i am comfortable with him.

In general doc would not ask to undress for no particular reason, and if he did, then that would be a MD and not a General physician, as far as my knowledge goes.

    Hi Chaaral,

I would sugggest you to carry on with the same doctor. In our case it was exactly opposite, we got good Female Physician.

First myhubby asked to check if there is any male, i said she got good reviews and more over just 5mts walk from our apartment.

We both went there for physical checkup, we are totally satisfied and comfortable.

Mainly it will be like they ask you to lift the leg by lying on bed..both legs. They press the abdomin lightly and check if we have any pains... then ask to open your mouth ,thats it mostly. Then as usual blood routine, BP etc.,

Though female doc she never asked for any breast or vaginal examin during the visit, she asked me to consult Gynae for Paps smear test.

I have a male general physican and a female gyn.. and my general phys. is excellent.. the office has a policy about breast exams, he won't ask you but if you wear your hospital gown face forward, it means he will be a breast and abdomen examination, if it is turned backwards, then he won't.. but he will make you aware that he didn't check of mass or anything and that I should follow up with my gyn.

That being said, these docs have seen it ALL - and believe me, it is our uneasiness more than anything. You won't believe half the stuff that comes through the door.. :hide:

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
Usha and Mrs.V, yes i do go to the gyn for pap test. i always felt uncomfortable for pap test, is it a must for all? i personally feel pap test can be done after 35 yrs age or so.
    Do you go every yr?

for very first time you need to do it for three consecutive years and have normal results and then i was told i need to do every two years (I'm in my 20s) and then in your 30's if the last three was normal, every three years.. otherwise insurance won't cover it..

eta: I didn't see you question about when, but technically in the US, it is recommended that all women have it done by the age of 21.. but my gyn said 4 to 6 months after your first intercourse is ideal and needed. After that, its based on recommendations. You really don't need a pap before that unless you have family history of issues.. but discuss with your gyn first.

    Hi Chaaral,

This is gonna be my first Paps, though i knew the procedure and benefits as i have been in Paramedical field.

But my sister had it already 3times, she says it is recommended yearly once here.
