    Re: Reg: poly cystic ovaries

    Hi,

There are so many threads about PCOS in IL. PCOS can be controlled using medication. It is very vital that you loose weight. You can see many threads in IL where people has overcome PCOS by weight loss and they get periods every month without medicine. If this is left unattended, you may have a problem in concieving after marriage and you are more prone to diabates. Kindly concentrate on weight loss and take proper medication. You can win PCOS. Also soak methi seeds in water at night and have the water. This is very effective home medication.

    Re: Pcos

    Dear Nikki,
Definitely you have to meet a gyneac.
If you are over weight try to reduce your weight, once you reduce you periods will be normal, but visit a Dr. Through tablets you can make the periods regular.
Nothing to worry, take good care, eat well, maintain you weight..

    Hi Nikki

I also have pcos and i visited GYN she prescribed me metformin 500mg. I took that tablet for 5 months, i went for morning walk everyday, controlled my diet intake by reducing carbs, took methi seeds on a empty stomach. I have lost like 15lbs and my period was back to normal.
first visit your Gyn and get treatment asap. all the best

    Re: Reg: poly cystic ovaries

Hmmm ... PCOS is a very common thing now a days ... the doctors generally prescribe drugs such as contraceptives to control the functions of the ovaries which is not a bad solution. You need to understand the advancement of medicines and ignore the myths about medication spoiling your health ...
Very true that girls diagnosed with PCOS face problem in conceiving, however they can undergo fertility treatment for the same ..
So for now make sure you stay healthy with some regular exercise and good diet which includes fruits and lots of greens .. and consult a good doctor and follow the medication ... if you are worried about the effects of medication then talk openly or opt for homeopathy ... but please dont avoid this problem ... after all you need to work for the solution in order to solve it, it will not be solved by ignoring ...
    All the best

    What is PCOS?
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormone imbalance that can cause irregular periods, unwanted hair growth, and acne. PCOS begins during a girl’s teen years and can be mild or severe.

What are the signs of PCOS?
Teen girls and young women with PCOS commonly have one or more signs. Some of the most common signs include:

    • Irregular periods that come every few months, not at all, or too frequently
    • Extra hair on your face or other parts of your body, called hirsutism (her-suit-is-em)
    • Acne
    • Weight gain and/or trouble losing weight
    • Patches of dark skin on the back of your neck and other areas, called acanthosis nigricans (a-can-tho-sis ni-gri-cans)
    Could I have PCOS?
If you have some or all of the above signs, you might have PCOS. There can be other reasons why you might have one or more of these signs. Only your health care provider can tell for sure. If you do have PCOS, you'll want to know what causes it and how to treat it.

    What causes PCOS?
PCOS is caused by an imbalance in the hormones (chemical messengers) in your brain and your ovaries. Many girls also have higher than normal levels of insulin from the pancreas. PCOS usually happens when a hormone called LH or levels of insulin are too high, which results in extra testosterone production by the ovary.

Anyone of you here @ IL suffering from PCOS? Well, I was diagnosed with that. I had to undergo a laproscopy & I am on medicatioMETFORMIN [glyciphage] to control INSULINE RESISTANCE.

Common, share your experiences with PCOS here Not sure if it affects fertility for everyone, but as I understand it does need to be contained to have a normal pregnancy.
