Does anyone here have exp with freelancing site like elance work from home jobs or odesk.com etc? i'm thinking of joining one myself. it will keep me occupied and get me some bucks too:thumbsup.... i have one question regarding this : how are payments made to us? wil the legal authorities come to know of this,by any means?? is there need to pay tax? looking forward to responses. thanks neha S
hi neha for wfh jobs mostly the payment is made thru paypal for which you have to open a paypal account and provide them the number. regarding tax have no idea i think no tax deduction but not sure - sorry
hi skchivukula thanks for the reply. i do not have a paypal account,need to create one does anyone know if i can withdraw the mony in india(i am in US) using the same paypal account... i do not mind the charges/fees involved but it should be possible.... how can i withdraw from india? do i need to be there personally? thanks!

freelancing is providing your services to a client(individual/company). it is actually illegal on h4 visa though many do it u can try elance.com , if you are interested good luck
I tried odesk..but if u read the legal terms in it...u will find that: *U.S. residents need a signed W-9 on file to withdraw funds from their oDesk account * Its illegal for H1 and h4 to work in odesk! but i am not sure whether we can work from here and get cash in india
hi coolfiregirl, i agree to what you say. such terms are definitely mentioned in odesk . but,i am also pretty sure that there are people out there who have made money on and off using odesk or other such frelancing sites... anyway,they don't pay much money except for website dev or logo dev kind of work.... i guess,as long as it is not too huge an amount,it should not be a problem(lets hope atleast)
