    Dear friends of PMS stage,

You are not alone, dealing with the symptoms of menopause.
There are many who deal with those, silently.

Let us share our symptoms that we are experiencing, which are visible to our family or friends, because they are the one who are affected other than us..:biggrin2:, if any life-style changes if needed, what you had done to it..how it was effective can be shared here for the good of others.

This is what I got from Wikipedia:

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) (also called PMT or premenstrual tension) is a collection of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms related to a woman's menstrual cycle. While most women of child-bearing age (up to 85%) report having experienced physical symptoms related to normal ovulatory function, such as bloating or breast tenderness, medical definitions of PMS are limited to a consistent pattern of emotional and physical symptoms occurring only during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle that are of "sufficient severity to interfere with some aspects of life".[1] These symptoms are usually predictable and occur regularly during the ten days prior to menses. Generally, symptoms may vanish either shortly before or after the start of menstrual flow. Only a small percentage of women (2 to 5%) have significant premenstrual symptoms that are separate from the normal discomfort associated with menstruation in healthy women.[1][2]

After I got married(11 months), my hubby has become the victim of my PMS.
During a week before/just after the periods my mood goes out of control.
I harm myself by eating excessively/not at all eating whole day...
I harm my hubby physically. Yes..it may sound astonishing but yes, tats the fact.
I beat him severely(Sometimes he hits me back/sometimes he takes all the beating and abusing),I crave for a lot of attention, I would black-mail him tat i wld die etc...all which looks mindless after sometime(After the start/end of menstrual cycle).
Since it was spoiling our relation, we decided to see a doc.
He advsied me not to think of the preiods too much. He said soemwhere in the sub conciousmind that am thinking abt it too much tat something worng is happening with me(like some pple say u shldnt go to temple...u shldnt do tat n this).
He asked me to consider tat nothing has changed in my lifestyle and perods is part of the body rules. He gave me some medicine and adviced me to work myslef not to think about periods as an extentions etc...
After taking medicine also, am not able to control anyway.......Coz of this attitude am my hubby is loosing trust on me.

I too suffer with PMS symptoms in luteal phase. I went to naturopathic dr. and she advised me to use Evening primerose oil and vitamin B6, studies shown both are good for PMS . I am using them. I am also trying to have meditation, yoga in my routine, this is helping me alot.

    Alankritha,
It is very sad to know that you and your hubby are going through this because of this PMS.
I was glad that you went and consulted a physician. Why don't you follow what the doctor had told you..
Medicines alone don't work, we should put an effort to make it work.
If you are getting too much irritated or having an urge to physically hurt or anything..go for some smooth music, which would calm you down.
If you are spiritualy inclined person, do some meditation. You can do some yoga too to minimize the effects of PMS.

Or as doctor pointed out, is this any form of extension of any kind, you had gone through previously?
Take care, this is you and your dh's life.

    Sujatha,
That's nice to know about how you are dealing with these symptoms.
Is primerose oil available only in Nature stores or in regular medical stores?

    Srinikethan,

    Thanks for replying.
The doctors version is that i would have got hurt during the initial times of my periods where people try to impose to NOT TO DO things on us.
Though I would have never given a thought for it, sub consciously am worrying every time when am getting my periods and hence am not being my self due to this hormonal changes.
Yes, I have started to turn away my thoughts. Am trying to focus myself being busy.

Nice to hear about your realisation, Alankritha.
Realisation makes it easier to control those symptoms and succeed in it
You are going to succeed and come t of these symptoms, sooner than you think.
    All the best.

PS. I like your name very much.:)

Oh..thank you for that information Sujatha.
I found this on the internet relating to primrose oil.

What Evening Primrose Oil Is Used For
    • Evening primrose oil has been used since the 1930s for eczema (a condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, itchy, or scaly because of allergies or other irritation).
    • More recently it has been used for other conditions involving inflammation, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
    • Evening primrose oil is used for conditions affecting women's health, such as breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle, menopausal symptoms, and premenstrual syndrome.
    • Other conditions for which evening primrose oil is used include cancer and diabetes.
How Evening Primrose Oil Is Used

Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds of the evening primrose. The oil is usually put into capsules for use.

    What the Science Says

    • Evening primrose oil may have modest benefits for eczema, and it may be useful for rheumatoid arthritis and breast pain. However, study results are mixed, and most studies have been small and not well designed.
    • Evening primrose oil does not appear to affect menopausal symptoms.
    • Although some clinical trials have shown a benefit of evening primrose oil for premenstrual syndrome, the best-designed trials found no effect.
    • There is not enough evidence to support the use of evening primrose oil for other health conditions.
    Side Effects and Cautions
    • Evening primrose oil is well tolerated by most people. Mild side effects include gastrointestinal upset and headache.
    • Tell your health care providers about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health. This will help ensure coordinated and safe care.
It is better to consult a physician before using drugs of any kind. Go with the guidance from a physician.

I also go through some back pain or a little shoulder pain before those days.
I apply IODEX and it is manageable.
My varicose veins also bulge up this time. My husband says there is no medicine for it..only excercise. I am trying to stick to that schedule. As it is the winter season, I am giving an excuse to walk outside.:)
