    Hello Ladies,
I'm really frustrated over my dress up after marriage. I used to wear western dress but now have to wear traditional salwar kamiz because I live with in laws. they permit me to wear short sleeve, long sleeve kamiz and saree. sleeveless and low cut blouses not allowed.

please give me some tips to look good in this style.

    thanks

    Hi Piu,
In the salwar kameez or sarees also one can look stylish. No need to go for sleeveless or low cut blouses. But a well-stitched kameez with proper fitting according to your body shape will give u that style. If a zip-fitting kameez is not allowed even then you can go for a medium fitted kameez. If you wear very loose, the style is lost. You said short sleeves are allowed , that is very good. Dont go for full length sleeves. rather go for 3/4th sleeves that too only for kameez not for blouse. Choose dress material and sarees which are different from the very conventional designs and patterns. Like stay away from big flower prints as they look good on tv or movies but in actual they dont really look stylish . Exceptions are always there even in this case. Buy dress materials of different types like chiffon, cotton, embroidered etc. Dont stick to only one kind.
Ask your tailor to stitch the kameez in different styles and designs depending on the cloth material. Blouses also can look stylish by giving proper neckline designs. You can experiment with the short sleeves also. Wear the colours that suit to your skin tone. You can experiment with mix and match in Salwar Kameez.
Search the net for latest designs and modify them according to your requirements.
    GO STYLISH GAL :2thumbsup:

    hey

It all depends on the boutique you go in... and the tailors of course... but if the boutique owner has good ideas then you dont have to worry...

I wear suits too, but my suits are so modern and smart that they make me look stylish... not necessarily, do i wear low cut necks or Halter necks, or noodle straps...

it all depends on your own Figure too and your ability to carry an outfit on yourself.

    Hey Piu,

I know it is hard to get thru this transition stage. But when u think of salwar/sarees as the only option,in that only live upto wearing designer salwaars, bell sleeved churidaars, designer sarees etc.And try to use, either mangalagiri, designer worked ,rare colors and designs etc and rare designed dresses which makes u look unique..That itself is a good choice u can make to live upto everybody's expectations.

To be frank,in my inlaws place they dont restrict me..But i feel comfortable only in salwars or sarees(Rarely i wear sarees) when my inlaws are around.Thats itself shows our respect to them to be in their expectations.Dont worry too much about this!

    Goodluck,
    Vaishu

Tips on wearing a Salwar Kameez or Shalwar Kameez.

    1. If you are short, then you should make your kameez be a little longer in length. This will make you look taller. If your height is around 5 feet 3 inches then your kameez height should be around 47- 48 inches. You can also wear a Chinese collar (closed neck) makes you look tall

    2. If you have broad shoulders then avoid wearing puffed sleeves or Chinese collar top as this will make you look wider.

    3. If you have fat arms and therefore cannot wear sleeveless then go in for sleeves of about 5 inches length. This will hide the flab on your arms and your hands will look thinner.

    4. Salwar or shalwar are made in different styles according to the trends and outfit. Currently Patiala Salwar, Dhoti salwar, Kowl salwar, Double ghair salwars, Parallel Pants, Trousers like pajamas with short kurtas / tops were in vogue. You can keep checking our website for latest trends & designs which can be bought online.

    5. Chudidar salwar looks good on long kameez, Anarkali style shirt, Peshwas or Kurtas which give you a traditional look.

    6. If you have a slight belly the you should try and wear a shalwar around your naval area, as it will pull in your stomach and make you look thinner. If you have the tie strings on your side, it reduces the look of the pounch. Tucks might be out of fashion but they give a very good fit to the Kameez. Avoid Organza or any stiff cloth if you want to look slimmer.
