Parenting, though a great blessing, is not easy. It becomes even more complicated when we are raising our children in a country that we are still adjusting to ourselves in one way or the other. The group is about creating a space where immigrant parents like us can feel supported. Through our discussions and sharing we can help each other face the day to day challenges of raising our children far from our families, and in a cultural environment that is very different from the ones we were raised in ourselves. As immigrants and parents in Canada we have so many questions – related to disciplining, resources/facilities available for our families and children, schooling system, child care choices available, handling differences in values etc. The group’s database has links to various websites/resources that provide information on all these topics and more.
