Your Favorite Music Instrument?

My favorite music instrument is Guitar
Initially I felt very boring. when the days are getting passed, i realized the beauty of learning musical instrument, it helps me to relieve from stress, builds observation skills , patience and focus. Generally most people use one hand even when it can be done with 2 hands. By learning guitar kind of musical instruments, it helps to build hand to hand , eye to eye coordination, in turn it keeps both sides of brain very active.

 

You are a classical dancer! If it is the South Indian style then you must be familiar with many songs.

I have learnt bharatnatyam in my childhood and was able to pursue it when I moved to the states . I am now into Kathak . I will go insane if I don't pursue this one hobby that I am really passionately about . I am familiar with a lot of Carnatic music and songs but not good at singing .

 

That is wonderful! I love Kathak. another beautiful dance form.

Then I would say go ahead and learn the veena.

 

So I am listening to violin on YouTube and I really like this piece.

How important is learning multiple streams(vocal instrument etc) ? It largely depends on how far u want to go. If you want to go all the way ( professional/semi-professional or even get to a stage when u can perform in a solo concert )then a solid base in both Vocal and one instrument is extremely helpful. Most successful vocalists also play one instrument Playing an instrument makes ur swara gnana very strong. If u are training to be an instrumentalist learning vocal makes it natural and easy for u to take breaks at the right spots(-syllables -bowing/breath/plucking) and imitate singing in the krithi .Infact I would go one step further if u really want to be a consummate artist u should also learn one percussion instrument (mridangam/ghatam/kanjira) and if thats not possible at least take advanced layam lessons from a percussionist.
