    Hi all,

when i was pregnant and visit hospitals and clinic anyone and everyoe addresses us as patients if not by the name.

something like "which doc's patient are you?" "please call the patient in room no 34" "patients not allowed here" and so on....

we are pregnant and not patient... when i was telling my mother why do they call me a patient she said whatelse can they call you?

i was thinkning what othername will suit to address pregnant women in maternity hospitals other than "patient"

please suggest right name for addressing pregnant woman...

    Dear sowraj

    Yes pregnancy is not sickness

I think it would be better if we are addressed with our names.

I feel it as respectable way of calling.

    Hi,
Other than calling a pregnant woman patient its nice to be addressed as to-be-mom or something like that. But again any pperson with a sickness would like to be addressed with their name mostly in contexts like "please call the patient in room no 34" etc.

But we cannot expect a nurse or doctor who is treating many people to remember our names after 1-2 consultations. So they generally refer any one as patients. Also the word patient doesnt mean a person with sickness it means
    1. (n.) A person under medical or surgical treatment; -- correlative to physician or nurse.
So here a prengant lady is also a patient.
