Dear Satchi,

I know. We all have gone through this all. But, we had lesser distractions. And some of us were living in joint families or even if we didn't we always had some emotional and physical back-up which is missing today. Parents spend time away from children to earn money for them. Finally, it is used for all the wrong purposes. Our children don't get any stronger, keep losing values, become selfish and what not.

Sigh! a very pitiable situation and I worry. Can only pray and wish for positive change.

I feel very sorry for the teacher and may her soul rest in peace. Praying for her family to have courage and recover from their loss.

The same thought was running in my mind from the day i heard the news. In recent days, I come across a news stating that students are threatening Teachers quoting the incident in Chennai. Like many of the ILites mentioned, I too dont understand where we are headed towards.

Im not sure what can be solution to this issue..!

Should parents take more care about their kids, make them understand the moral values, not supporting them if the kids are wrong and parents try to make them understand kid's mistakes.,? or is it the media, internet that is really making these go even worse.

Talking about the movies, There should be severe restriction at the censor board and try not to spread the violence in name of Heroism. I can give n number of movies have scenes making fun (as comedy, or rudeness) of Teachers/ Professors. Seeing such scenes can definitely spoil atleast 1% of kids, who then spread it to others. First place why is such scenes allowed to be part of Indian movies. Only in Indian movies, we could see scenes of degrading our culture, value, government, society teaching the younger minds with such wrong values. And parents dont take much care on what the kids should and should not watch.

We also see many kids now are trapped in Internet world too. While there are many +ve things around the world, we must also agree that -ves take easier routes and attract a person more. So atleast before presenting high end gadgets to kids, parents should think well if it's really neccessary.

Hello Devi,

Nice of you to share your thoughts. It is kalayugam as they say but then, every problem DOES HAVE a solution. It is within us, within each of our homes, how we bring up the children. Of course, outside influences do exist. But we can minimize them to some extent at least.

I think most parents are guilty of "what we did not have at least our children should have"
syndrome. That is where everything goes wrong....

That indeed is a blood curdling incident.
But they are all to blame. The parents, the teachers, the world that surrounds the kids today. The days are gone when it was :the wonderful world". From what I see its become "Its a big bad world"!!
I don't believe a child of 14 or 15 could have such gory thoughts running in his head if he hadn't seen the things that happen around him in movies or TV dramas or even the news, faced the pressure at school or the neglect at home. Even if he had one or even two of these in the right place, the third could very well corrupt the little innocent mind. He is still a child in my opinion - that is what I was considered to be when I was that age. When he is expected to behave like an adult with all the extra responsibilities and expectations he has to meet, it would drive him crazy. I am not saying this about this single child. Its about any child today. The pressure they face is a lot and is unfair.

I understand its a fast world these days and unless you strive harder and longer, the boy or girl, the man or woman next to you will beat you. But what are we running this race for? Its sad among all the other things, kids have fallen victim to such thoughts and deeds.

Yes, you are right. The pressure on children is high and the people expecting such high standards from children are not guiding them properly. No child became a villain by some strict behaviour from a parent or a teacher!
Why can't we teach our children to be stronger?
Why can't we teach our children some basic values?

What the boy did was wrong, terribly wrong. He could not have become such a cruel mean villain within a fraction of a second. The process must have been going in his brain for long due to the behaviour of the people who are supposed to be there to guide him but DID NOT!

Let's pray for wisdom to prevail, for both the adults and the children.

Yes, I agree. It is indeed very disillusioning and frustrating too. What has gone wrong where? Peer pressure, peer influence, society scenario and what not. What can we stop? What can we control?

Hi Shail

I agree with you that every problem definitely have a solution and the syndrome that you mentioned. But atleast seeing such incidents parents should try to come out of that syndrome. Actually, it is the help that they do for their kids to have pleasant/better environment to live in future.

I always think about what will happen to the society in say 5, 10 yrs from now. There would be 'n' good things, developments... But equally (hopefully equal) bad things to make life even worser..

And my contribution towards this is not to have that syndrome of pampering in future
