    Lessons learnt from Mahabharata

    Bhismpitamah
I learnt that a vow, however big it may be cannot be bigger than the honor of a women

    Dhritrastra
Blind is one who cannot differentiate between righteousness and unrighteousness and whose love for his son is bigger than truth.

    Gandhari
There is limit to be a virtuous wife.

    Vidhur
when adharma rules talks of dharma is vain.

    Kunti and Karan
Accept what Destiny has provided for you.

    Yudhistir
Dharma is not complete without eradicating its weaknesses.

    Duryodhan
Do and finish what you have taken with faith and trust and listen to elders.

    Dusshasan
Weakness is the reason for frustration.

    Bhism
If your heart is clean, listen to your heart.

    Draupadi
Know your rights don't pass it on to others. Only you can bet on yourself, no one has that right.

    Arjun
Determination to achieve something should include all not you alone.

    Nakul
    Righteousness

    Sahadev
Contribution however small for protecting dharma is essential

    AND FINALLY KRISHNA

    Krishna
It is difficult to live on Bhoolok and so whenever you will remember me I will come and that is my punishment.

The moral of the story is it is too difficult to be true and good for ever.Lord Krishna would like to include many other vices as 'smart thinking' and call them as means to success.
The difference between Rama and Krishna is Rama does what everybody else thinks as right. But Krishna does what he thinks as right and believes that every one would approve of it.
All the epics, especially mahabharatha should be read only as a story. If we start associating divinity to Krishna and Dharma to Yudhishtira, nothing will fall in place. We will be only brooding over with confusion confounded.
But we should appreciate Vyasa. he has picturised that no one ,including Krishna, can be totally perfect and the story is a portrayal of human weakness at its height and the telling effects thereof.
The author does not wait for others to comment on this. He himself through the mouth of so many characters questions every wrong thing done.

Yudhishtira:- People in position of great responsibility and power, must develop qualities of austerity, willpower and self control against vices.

Amba-Salwa story :- Choose the beloved who loves you like a human being not as a prize who could abandon you for his ego .

Karna:- Self respect, loyalty and virtue is more important than blood relation.

Ekalavya:- the importance and power of self confidence and self learning; belief in oneself can take one to greater heights even in absence of teacher.

    Draupadi:-
    -stand up for your rights
    -be humble in all circumstances

    Kunti :-
negative:- excessively practical decisions never bring peace.
positive:- a dedicated mother can raise accomplished children in worst of circumstances

    Dear Hari Sir,

    Overall lesson from the epics:

"When you come across women in your life, respect and revere. If you don't, expect to face a revenge."

The lesson I learn from their lives is "When you practice righteousness, you will get rewarded and when you perform actions overlooking the righteousness, such action will have consequences."

Perhaps, that is what Hari Sir means, "Accept what destiny has provided for you".

Vidura Neethi is very good advice for leaders. But the sad reality is neither Dhidhirasthra nor the current leaders heed it and are blind to this!
