Re: astrological signs When one Planet contacts another by an exact geometricangle, astrologers say the planets are in aspect or forming an aspect. TheMAJOR aspects are: conjunction (0 degrees), sextile (60 degrees), square (90degrees), trine (120 degrees), or opposition (180 degrees). If you consider a360 degree circle, a conjunction is when 2 (or more) Planets are 0 degreesapart, or conjunct. A sextile is a 60 degree angle, a square is a 90 degreeangle, a trine is a 120 degree angle, and an opposition is a 180 degree angle. These major aspects were first noted by Ptolemy. Astrologers usually allow anorb of several degrees for an Aspect. A 3 degree orb is used when casting thecharts used for this site. There are also *minor* aspects that are important;ie, the semisquare (45 degree), the sesquiquadrate (135 degrees), theinconjunct (150
Re: astrological signs What we casually refer to as "astrology" isGeocentric astrology, calculated from the perspesctive of the Earth and meansthe planets appear to aspect each other from the Earth's perspective.Heliocentric astrology is from the perspective of the Sun.
Re: astrological signs When several aspects occur in the same chart (orsimultaneously), they can create larger aspect patterns. Instead of one aspect, several planets in aspect can create a larger aspect pattern. These largerpatterns can signify a complex personality pattern, referred to bypsychologists as "complexes".
Re: astrological signs A T-Square is a challenging aspect that signifies astruggle that intensifies and eventually leads to a resolution. While T-Squareconfigurations are common, they signify an inherent challenge that forcesgrowth or change that can lead to success in life. The focal planet, or planetthat squares the opposing planets, is the key to the T-Square and shows wheretension is most likely to show up. Conflict resolution may be aided by the missingor empty part of the Square (opposing the focal planet).
