    Hi,

I am bfing my baby mostly but I am supplementing with formula also if I am not able to pump .

I have a major question about mixing formula:

    1. Which water to use. currently I use Nursery water with added flourides
:(. I was googling about it so not sure if I can use that water or tap water or some other water. Which water do you people use for mixing formulas with
    2. Is boiling water necessary to mix formula. Now the water directly from bottle is mixed with formula and fed to the baby. Is there a need to boil the water?

I am so confused looking at various sites so looking for some help from IL as always

    Thanks
    Geetha

Please do not use nursery water because of the added flourides.(I have read it somewhere, flourides is one of the reason we don't use regular toothpastes for babies)
You can consult your doctor regarding using tap water most places tap water is safe.Eventhough my doctor told me I can use tap water ,I use filtered and boiled water because I feel it tastes much better than tap water.

flourides are good for baby,s developing teeth. thats why they supplement it in nursery water.
use nursery water for first few months. then u can switch to ordinary tap water, if u r sure that water is pure n safe.

Fluoride content in water is very controversial subject.
statistically people with high fluoride intake
develop thyroid problems .concern with fluoride is that it is added via artificial means and is typically not naturally present in such high concentration. It is proven to prevent tooth decay but other side effects are not as well documented.Boiling kills most bacteria/viruses but doesn't remove minerals and other chemicals.

    Thanks

Thanks Supriya. I am now boiling tap water instead of nursery water. Read some stories about it.
I will also try using Brita . Its always good to boiil filtered water instead of regular water.
