hi i would like to make prawn thokku .... i got the procedure to do it... but , what do i look for ,when i buy prawn from the market ...i live in US.. do i need to look for already cleaned, cooked etc ..while buying where to buy it, and any special brand to look for...
Re: need info on prawn curry ,in US Well it entirely depends on you. You could buy the fully cooked shrimps which you could buy in any grocery store in the seafood aisle. Or you could buy it fresh from the butcher,if thats the case, you need spend some time cleaning it like you need to take the vein of the shrimp . The main advantage of packaged shrimp is its already cleaned (not fully) and it saves your cleaning time. But if you ask me i would suggest you to buy it from the butcher as it tastes better. Down the line fresh produce always tastes better than the frozen ones <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
Re: need info on prawn curry ,in US hi ish thanks for your response but, when you say cooked ,what does it mean.. does it mean they are already cleaned and pre cooked... and we just have to fry it to make it a thokku...?
Re: need info on prawn curry ,in US They are ALMOST clean(but you need to clean too, just to make sure). The packet says its cooked to 90% or so and you just cook like a regular shrimp. The thing it cooks little faster than uncooked shrimp( no major difference) :thumbsup. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
Re: need info on prawn curry ,in US but i think in the case of cooked prawns it is difficult for the prawns to get marinated....i think the fresh one tastes good....you can also buy fresh cleaned prawns...i m in australia..so don't know about u people.... here i usually buy tiger prawns
