When do they start teaching Hindi in Bangalore Schools?

We are currently in US and plan to return to Bangalore in 2013. We want to join our kid in a good CBSE school (not an international school)

I want to know a few things:
1. Do they start teaching Hindi from UKG or 1st std?
2. Is it mandatory to learn both Kannada and Hindi or do we have an option to choose any one language as the 2nd language?
