    Hi all,

lets group together. List down few things that you think you missed being in US and gained being in US. Please DONT include you miss parents or being away from inlaws. (which will be on top of every one's list.)
Lets make the list very special, special that we personally miss or enjoy it here. It can be anything rite from karapori or Pani poori and we enjoy touring scenic places in America or cosmetics whatever....
    Pour in your thoughts ladies..

We get almost everything which we get in India.Groceries, dresses, cosmetics, beauty parlors, restaurants, fruits, veggies and what not.

I think I miss jasmine flowers more. Not that I was wearing them daily while in India, but I was able to wear them when ever I wished then. But now even if I wish I can't get them and more than that even if we get I can't wear them because people here may look strangely at me.LOL.
And yes, the temples we find at least in each street there.Tough the temples are here too, we can't compare the availability with India.
The next one would be attending marriages I think.Attending a marriage back home will be a lot of fun right?

And the auto and bike travels are also included.

Crowded markets in India is sure to be missed and the roadside pani puri/vada pav waala can exist only in India!

Great..!!! Below are the few thing that I recollect for now
    For me, I miss
    - Besant nagar beach and chat items there.
    - festive and wedding occasions as hemalatha said especially occasions like karthigai.
    - to see movies in Indian theaters.
    - same day door delivery.
    - flowers.
    - local FM radios.

    I like in US:
    - Shopping rite from buying fruits to cosmetics and dresses(western outfits) there are lot of variety.
    - I enjoy the clean long roads and rain.
    - No traffic jams like Chennai, bangalore.
    - I learnt to bake items with the use of conventional oven.
    - I assembled my TV stand and cot on my own, of course with little help from hubby.

Less pollution and traffic jam of course, here in US.

There, in India, tasty foods from various hotels, attending all kinds of functions(can take off from cooking), festivals, movie theatres, roadside shopping, our old temple oil smell(hmmm), on top of all, can go anywhere, be summer or winter unlike here..

    Interesting thread!

I really admire the freedom and safety women get in US compared to India. I rarely felt unsafe here after in turns dark, but in India, even a small noise at night leaves me disturbed and conscious. Clean, less polluted surroundings, roads and strictly implied and followed rules too are there in my list.

But of course I miss the 'apnapan' that I get from my hometown, food, festivals and mostly the monsoon! And my right to work :-(

First and foremost miss my MOM cooked food, simply delicious.
    Miss parents,brother,niece & nephew.
Shopping in Hyderabad, all trendy style fashions I am crazy about :crazy
My bike, been more than 3 yrs I drove it

What did we gain??? Hmm...I guess pay is good compared to India, but hardly any savings :bang [saying in Telugu entha chettuku anthe gaali ]
As told by many everything is free of pollutants.
Love the beautiful scenic long drives which could have been horrible in India and dangerous too:shaking:
Like the centralized A/c, heating etc... [ though few states don't have ]
    Get lot of privacy.
Can be lazy around, can sleep as long as I want :biglaugh

    well..the list goes on........
