    Newsoul,

my dh loves parrots! are they hard to take care of? are they messy? do you think they'd get along with cats? sometimes he mentions getting a bird, but I don't know...

looking forward to seeing your parrot pics! :)

    Hi Suitablegirl,
No. Parrots are not very hard to take care of..Regarding messiness, it depends on the kind of parrot. The bigger ones(like amazon and african parrots) are more messier I think. Ours is a conure and it is not very messy. I clean the cage once in a week and we have trained it to eat all our regular food(rice, fruits, nuts, seeds, etc). So maintenence is not a big problem.
I have no idea how well they get along with cats!
I have sent the picture of our parrot in the previous post.
    Thanks.
    Newsoul.

Thanks for sharing the pic of your beautiful parrot. It looks like a young bird...is it? Years ago my brother in law had one of the big parrots and it was so ancient it was half bald..... It had been passed through a number of owners and it was like 80 yrs old.

Hi there to all pals...newsoul. tashi.. & a suitable girl.

Followed your exchange of notes which began with the food favourites of kitty cats and finally reached up to a pretty parrot perched on the loving owners shoulder ! A real cute picture ...birdie looks so adorable...does she / he talk?
We have doggies at home ...they love iddli with a smear of ghee and all crispy snacks.....murukkus, chips and pappadums. Our Lab Romeo will eat apples and banana's ....small pieces and ofcourse an all time favourite is Vanilla ice cream with both. In small measures I think it is Ok ...so far no problem .Do not overdo the treats .

i love parrots and cats too!Have never been allowed pets at home, but that has not stopped me from admiring them. I now share ( ha, thats wht i call it) 4 love birds with my neighbour and it is so much fun watching them peck at food. The only hitch is that they nare caged always!

Look at that parrot - Damn cute ;-)

    Praniti:
Dogs certainly have strange (to our views) tastes. Here in the states they sell as dog treat dried pig ears and also hooves. There is also an animal here called a woodchuck (or also called a ground hog) that is a burrowing large rodent. The smell of those rotting (it is a VERY foul smell) seems to be perfume to any dog and they will dig them up, steal them, anything to get them to roll in. Many a dog owner here has disgustedly given their pooch a bath after they have gotten into woodchuck remains.
