My entire school career was one loooooooong episode of such a syllabus. You're right, it did help me later, in quite unimagined ways.:beer-toast1:

personal experience NO. Don't push the child. Though it may seem that child is missing learning in initial years older children in class have an advantage in social as well as academic skills. Now when my own voices out that it takes a long time to understand something I feel so helpless. At this point I can't hold back the kid one year. JMO and experience

phonics syllabus - hmm, didn't we do it in Govt engineering school for 1-year English class? I was afraid to open my mouth to speak!

At least, when was in engineering school (one century ago)...there was daily English phonics class listening to the tap recorder player.

    Yes, it's a typo, I know - I was just pulling your leg.:wink1:
In any case, 'phobic syllabus' is a way better description of my 'education'! Love it!:roflmao:
No, I did not have any phonics. It was all straightforward 'whole language', "jump into the pool and swim" thing.
Hmmm, phonics in undergrad education? That's great for folks coming to university after having been schooled in a regional language!
