Were you born in a barn, would you like some hay? Says the mother to a child whose room is unbelievably untidy and dirty. That is a line from a 2009 song by comedian Anita Renfroe that takes all the things a mom says to a child in a 24 hour period and compresses them in a 2 min 55 second song. I use that barn--hay line often in my daily or weekly dosage of scolding or nagging that I am required to deliver to my child. : ) Watch the video if you haven't already, it is so real and funny. Do you remember how your parents scolded you in your childhood? Or, how did they remind you of things to do and not do? What do you remember the most of the scoldings or nagging/reminders? If you have kids, what is the most common nagging or scolding your child gets from you? : ) Is it mostly in your mother-tongue or English? Are you so predictable that your child can complete your sentence when you are mad at them? : ) .
