travel insurance for parents visiting US

    Hi,
Can some one give me some details abt travel insurance, is it better to buy in US or in india? which insurance company is better?
is there any insurance that will come pre existing conditions too or is that a waste? any details would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Chaaral.

    Better to buy in US.
    Look at InsuBuy.com

Pre-existing coverage is really difficult to get.

ALWAYS buy GOOD insurance coverage from US even if it is more expensive. Never ask parents to travel without insurance, or with poor-quality insurance.

    Hi All,
I got insurance here itself for my parents, atlas american which covers pre existing conditions and the customer service was also helpful. it costs 126$ per month for 1 person with 100$ deductible and 15k coverage. not sure if it is good but just got it as it is the only one which covers pre existing conditions.
Will update later abt how they cover or pay.

    Re: health insurance - urgent

    Hi Revathi,

There is a good thead where we have discussed about this topic in detail in this site.( It should be in Immigration Matters section).

Anyway let me share my experience,,i got insurance from Seven corners...i couldnot tell about their service, as i didn't get any situation to use it.

I don't have any personel experience, but i heard from many saying that its better to get insurance in U.S rather than India. As in our India it is really very tough to get the money back, long processes...

Before their arrival i check with the site how much it cost and other information. You can get that in site itself and buy the insurance in online itself.

After 1 week they sent you insurance card in paper material on your parents name, you can keep that card in bag.

So better buy exactly on the day they arrive to U.S. For one month it was around approx 150$ for me/person (my parents and Inlaws were below 60 while their visit).

    All the best.

YOu can get travel insurance with a medical portion but you have to buy before they travel. Check out Travel Guard. If you want longer term, look on IMG international.
