This happens whenever we attend any function . Mom makes me stand in front of a stranger and coaxes me to take a guess ! It's so awkward, I don't remember my kids classmate's name , how can I recognize someone I might have met somewhere in life! Don't know if it's an Indian thing tho.
Each and everyone will be worried about your body weight. First question when they are seeing you after so long time is that you lost weight or put on weight. They don't feel how we are embarrased.
Buy a house , even if the emi takes you to an early grave. Penny pinch and hold On tightly to your purse strings . Don't eat out much, don't spend on vacation, save for the future, . Have kids early so that you can finish off with their education and marriage by retirement . Basically waste the prime years of your life not doing anything you want in the hope that you will be still healthy and alive by the time you are 60 to babysit your grandchildren.
Oh yes! This is brilliant. Someone actually played the , "tell me who I am?" game with me when I was 35. It was one family friend uncle I've known all my life. And he's asked me this question since I was 5! And I've always answered correctly! The very thought of it makes me smile. Bless him!
This is also common indian thing. Elder son is expected to be responsible and matured.. He has to take care of parents. Elder daughter in law should follow family values and traditions where as younger DILs can have jolly ride.
True!!!!! Younger DILs are allowed to wear nighties while elder has to wear saree vonly. Which brings me to the next Very Indian Problem... The ghastly piece of apparel called nightie worn in the day!!!!!!!
If some kid is good at sports, its not much of a discussion topic among adults. All Indian kids should do good in academics and especially Math and Science. Thats a rule!!
