Valentines Day is getting bigger and bigger every year. Huge amounts are spent by promoters on advertisements and gimmicks to sell their V-Day merchandise. According to an article V-Day begins like this- 7 th Feb -Rose Day 8th Feb-Propose Day 9th Feb-Chocolate Day 10th Feb- Teddy Day 11th Feb-Promise Day 12th Feb-Kiss Day 13 th Feb-Hug Day 14 th Feb-Valentines Day Youngsters go beserk and spend huge amounts of money on their sweetheart, those who are single feel left out.Falling in love is free but expressing it is expensive ! Is it harmless fun or good marketing?
Valentines Day celebrations begin weeks in advance. Just like we start preparing for a particular festival much before it comes. Actually, Valentines Day was just one day in a year we could express our heartfelt love to our loved ones. But it has been commercialised. Companies use Valentines Day reasons to get their products sold. Sadly enough, it is the common man who gets carried away by these adverts and makes love decalaration so formal and public. I still wish Valentines Day would still be a one day thing with nothing fancy and formal. But on a happier note....am sure we do not necessarily need a Valentines day to tell our loved ones how much we care and love them. We love them all our life and any day is a good day to show our love.
Let flower sellers and candy sellers make some extra money this season. Its their livelihood , why grudge that ? I read a report today that Valentine's day celebrations are actually getting toned down year by year. It was a novelty when it first appeared on scene here, now most people have got bored with it.
Thanks RKG and Priya for the quick response. The sudden spurt in Valentine Day celebration is actually a marketing gimmick by big companies selling cards and gifts. Now card sales has gone down dramatically since people send SMSes , E-cards or Email their wishes, this way they sell cards and gifts to the youth who find it a good way of expressing their love for each other. The price of red roses goes up and comes down dramatically the next day !
I would have loved to say Marketing tactics... But in the present times we do need reasons to celebrate otherwise we tend to forget to show our love...
Thanks for the responses RKG, Priya and Mohur ! It is actually marketing gimmick to sell gifts and cards , the youngsters are much influenced by it. Maybe its also a good idea to show love at least once a year !
My DH asked me......do we need a special day each year to tell each other "I love you"? All days are Valentines days!!!! And each day each moment in our life is Valentine moment...
Real, true love does not depend on gifts and cards on one particular day, its caring round the year. This V-Day fever is generated to increase sales of gifts and cards , specially to entice young teens to spend and show off !! Each day should be a V-Day !
