Valaikappu & Seemantham

I have just registered in Indus ladies and would like to read the article on Valakapu /Seemantham as I am to perform it for my daughter in CF -US.

So far there were elders in the family and I was just following instructions Now I am to take the lead and hence would like to knoe details.
I also do not know how to open the links from the website Can any one guide me.

Dear Chithvish,
I want to know details of Acham Telikirathu.
I saw your detailed article in this site But I don't know how to gat at it.
i am new member Actually I am to celeberate my daughter's valakapu at US on 25th May. I seem to have lot of doubts as to which hand even no. of bangles and which odd no.
I sw all details in your forum But I do not know how to come back to it.
As it is I don't seem to understand the working of this site
I had already written in replies But I don't see them in the site.

Dear friends,
Am yet to read all the posts and enjoy everything bit by bit.
Just curious to know about taking alamottu and agathi mottu to USA for my daughters seemantham.
Havent got into the affair yet and am doing some home work, when I bumped on this thread!
Please give me tips, where and how much this is bought and how this can be carried in flight without the airport authorities confiscate it saying its an agri product!

i ahve some doubts...

is sumangali prarthanai done before seemantham?
how many bangles max can I wear on hands?
Does poochootal and valagapu have ethi erakkal or is it upto the family traditions?
and i read somewhere tht during poochootal there have plates with different items and they are covered. And then lady is asked to pick up some thing and then gender is guessed. Its all a game at the end of the day right.

Hello namaskaram
I'm in 6 the month of my pregnancy.we had fixed date for valaikappu n seemantham in June.unfortunately I ve been confined to bed till delivery due to my I'll health..so practically conducting seeman tham is not possible when I'm bed ridden.I was really looking forward to it..is there any way to do seemantham alone after delivery?thanks in advance

great post and is really helpful for all moms-to-be.. thanks for writing this.. i've few queries...
- My valaikaapu and seematham are planned together.. so should there be two sets of paruppu thengai or only one set used for both ?
-My mom was asking about something called 'payaru vellam' for seemantham.. should this be kept as part of seer ?

அந்த மணையில், கல்யாணம் ஆகி, கர்ப்பமாகாமல் இருக்கும் ஒரு பெண்ணுக்கு, மறு மணை என்று சொல்லி, வளை அடுக்குவது சம்பிரதாயம்.

அதற்குப் பின் ஏற்றி இறக்குவது வழக்கம்.

ஒரு (அளக்கும்) படியில் நிரம்ப நெல் போட்டு, அதில் ஒரு சிறிய விளக்கை ஏற்ற வேண்டும்.

பெண்ணின், உச்சந்தலை, 2 தோள் பட்டைகள், 2 உள்ளங்கைகள், 2 பாதங்கள், வயிற்றில், இடுப்பில், ஒவ்வொரு வெள்ளி நாணயம் வைக்க வேண்டும். ஒவ்வொருவராக 5 சுமங்கலிகள், பென்ணுக்கு சந்தனம், குங்குமம் இட்டு, காலில் நலங்கு வைத்து, தலியில் பூ வைத்துப், படியால், மேலிருந்து பாதம் வரை ஏற்றி இறக்க வேண்டும்.
மூன்று முறை வலமாகவும் பின் இடமாகவும், சுற்றி கீழே வைக்கவும். பிறகு பென்ணை நமஸ்காரம் பண்ணச் சொல்லி, குனிந்ததும், இடுப்பில், பூவும் அக்ஷதையும் கலந்து தெளிக்கவேண்டும். இதற்கு அச்சுதம் தெளிப்பது என்று பெயர்.

பின்னர் ஆரத்தி எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

வந்தவர்கள் எல்லோர்க்கும் வளை கொடுப்பது வழக்கம்.

5 வித பக்ஷணங்கள் செய்ய வேண்டும்.

ஒரு ஜோடி பருப்பு தேங்காய், வறுபயறு (பொரிகொள்ளு அல்லது வரவரிசி), திரட்டு பால் தவிர ஒரு உப்பு பக்ஷணமும், ஒரு ஸ்வீட்டும் செய்யலாம்.

வந்தவர்களுக்கு வெற்றிலை பாக்குடன் சிறிது வறுபயறு கொடுப்பது வழக்கம்.

சாப்பட்டிற்குச், சித்திரான்ன வகைகள் செய்ய வேண்டும். வளைகாப்புப் பெண் சாப்பிட உட்கார்ந்ததும், அந்தப் பெண்ணின் மடியில், ஒரு மிகச் சிறிய ஆண் குழந்தையையும், பெண் குழந்தையையும் உட்கார்த்தி, ஒரு அப்பளத்தில், சிறிது சாத வகைகளை வைத்துக் கொடுப்பதும் உண்டு .

மாலையில், மணையில் வைத்துப் பாடுவது அவரவர் ஸௌகரியத்தைப் பொறுத்தது.

மாமியாரோ, மற்ற புக்ககத்து உறவினர்களோ வந்தால், பணமோ, ரவிக்கைத் துணியோ கொடுப்பது வழக்கம்.
அவரவர் வசதியைப் பொறுத்து செய்யலாம்.
