Dear Chithra, That was a wonderful narration of Valaikappu and Seemandham. In fact it made me nostalgic and I relived those moments using your narration! Thank you for having taken me back to that wonderful moment, which is the most cherished moment in a woman's life!
Dear Malathy, Thankyou for joining us here. You rightly said that pregnancy & specially the first one is a fulfilling time in a woman's life. We must thank God for that gift always ! Love, Chithra.
Dear Mrs.Chitra I was totally taken back when I saw this thread on the day you posted. That morning only I was thinking abt seemantham and how it would be really good to go to India for celebrating seemantham there and I became very emotional. (My husband was saying only few days back that he would not prefer me flying to India when I am pregnant due to medical concerns). We decided that we will do the seemantham here itself. Anyway we are not even pregnant but already started talking about all these stuff. You must be thinking am crazy. So I was really moved to tears when I saw your pictures and the write up. I couldn't control my emotions. it was written so beautifully that people who don't believe in all these things would want to have seemantham function. Your write up made me want to get pregnant immediately and experience all these wonderful rituals. But its been delayed for some time now . Thanks Geetha
Dear Geetha, Your words touched the core of my heart ! I am sure your intentions & my prayers for the same will fructify at the earliest & you will post us the good news ! Love, Chithra. You are not at all crazy, Geetha. Does not (almost) every woman dream of motherhood ? It is the most natural feelings of a woman. <xml id=yoombaxml></xml>
hi chithu, extraordinary write-up.and superb fotos i am sure u must have looked superb in the palum pazham kattam and all ur motherly glow!!!!!!thoroughly enjoyed the pics!!!!just a curiosity wat age did u get married???and ur daughter coz u seem to be very young!!!!!! luv pavi
Dear Pavi Baby, Ha ha ha - trying the age-guessing game ?! I got married later than you ! You completed 21 after marriage; I completed 21 & promptly got married, rather was married off ! Then Radha Silk ( not Rasi then) was the most popular shop & this palum pazamum was the first one they got in that variety or design ! We got it from the Dhun Bldg branch on Mount road. Ruby got married only 2 days after she completed 23. For me V & S were done separately; for Ruby both were on the same day. You are kindling the nostalgia ! Love, Chithra. <xml id=yoombaxml></xml>
hey chith late ah vandhalum latest ah varen...super article on valaikappu n seemandham....and nice black n white photos...nalla enjoy pannen.. lov sowmi
dear chitra can semantam can be done in 6 months .how to caluclate tht 6month from last period.guide me .thanks in advance
Dear Poornima, What I am giving here is strictly the Tamilian method of calculation. Generally for seemantam, tamil month - 6 th or 8 th is considered. But if done along with valaikappu, it is done on the same day. The 4 th day of the last period is taken into account. That month (even if it is the last day of the tamil month) is considered the first month. So you can calculate the other months. For example, if the 4 th day of the last period is even 30 th of Ani or di, that is the first month. I hope I have made myself clear. Love, Chithra.
