    We want to take our in-laws somewhere on a trip. But we are so confused on the place. Last time, we took our in-laws to NY and Niagara for the major trip. My mother in laws has knee-pain and cannot walk longer. She had a hard time walking in the last vacation.

    This time we want to take them to a place where we can use car to commute. We cannot think of any other place other than Chicago and LV. We live in Texas by the way.

    Appreciate your suggestions.

    Las Vegas is a big hit. Good that you are considering it. Just walking around all that magnificent buildings will awe them. Combine with Grand Canyon, that one great trip.

    Have you considered Disney World in Florida? Parents love it too, particularly Epcot. Just being there around all that people and seeing those things can be so much fun. You can also manage your schedule and expectations a bit on the fly to minimize walking.

    Thanks Jey! Where to find deals for Disney Land? Our toddler won't remember anything if we go to Disney World now considering the big fat money that we would spend. That's why we removed it from our list.

    We are thinking of DC too.

    One of the advantages of Las Vegas is you can enjoy shows sitting down. She can walk only as much as she wants to. :)

    Amica,

    Thanks. We visited last Vegas with my mom just last year. We would do it again if there is no other option.

    One of the things with parents is that they are happy only by seeing interesting things like the Statue of Liberty or Niagara Falls etc. That rules out ideas like Florida Keys or Colarado or even Montana/Wyoming etc which are pleasurable in its own way.

    Btw, what about Mount Rushmore / Yellowstone and a trip around the badlands? It is a so sparsely populated and a unique experience. Lot of driving though.

    Deal hunting for Disney World is a full-time job:) We have never been lucky. We ended up almost full price all the time.

    If they like monuments and museums, Washington DC is a good choice. It can be tedious to walk, but my parents took the hop-on, hop-off bus and covered the major attractions over a few days. There are also harbor cruises, monuments by night tours and such so the walking can be minimized. The good thing is that everything is free admission. There is also a nice aquarium in Baltimore, and a few good temples. Shenandoah National Park has a few nice drives, and the Luray Caverns and Great Falls Park are also worth visiting.

    @uma321

    I wouldn't recommend Disney, given your MIL has problems walking. Also, with a toddler, you can wait a year or more to go Disney. It isn't an inexpensive trip to repeat many times!

    How about going on a cruise? They can do as much as they want or less in the cruise as per their energy levels. Many parents are in awe of the luxury inside the ship. You may want to consider some Florida cruises that will include Dolphin and Seal watching and they will like it.

    you are lucky you are in warmer place. all places in US need lot of walking and very difficult with aging paretns. My dad was so enthusiastic but could not keep up energy with all that walking.
    My mother liked beaches.

    Remember they can not run, jump to trains buses like in Ny like us and can not be out for whole day. So plan easy outings for them. Also sitting long hours in car may not work for them.
