One quick question...... Does anyone know whether we can use deo when we are BFing or not? I'm frustrated with my own odor. I literally stink. Even nice hot bath does not do any good. :-( My doc advised me not to shave under arms because it can cause infection in the breasts. So I don't know how can I stop the stink without using a deodrant or antiperspirant.

SS... Congrats on the baby.. I would not use if I where you... If you're pumping it would be ok but not while breast feeding. You can confirm with doc...I am gng to check on waxing the under arm when I see my doc next week though.

Not supposed to wax while feeding...mmm..i have never heard that....I used to wax
IMO i feel, if you dont keep your underarms clean, the chances of infection due to sweat would be more...

Deo s i did use but mildly as i dint want my daughter to feel irritated because of strong smell...

Maybe you can try some flowery deos(dove has lemon tree ,cucumber flavours ) or use sandal powder, maybe some kind of perfumes which you can make at home with herbs(not sure how to make but i have heard these)

While bathing apply huge amounts of turmeric. This will keep you away from odour as well as from infections. Also it is no harm, like deos. Use fabric softeners like "comfort" for your clothes.

It's better not to use deos when you BF. Even, when you are using them, spray it on your clothes rather than directly on skin.

You might check out Alvera deodorant: just herbal no chemicals and it really works.

Dinny, our hospital's safety instructions included the point 'do not use any powder on baby and yourself (if you are BFing) till baby turns one'. Reason given was inhaling the powder has been know to cause asthma or some respiratory illness. I never heard of it, everyone I know used Johnson's baby powder on babies in our family from day one. Still I'm following the instructions. Its rather frustrating. My 'sweeety' also smells 'not so sweet' even after bath because we are using all unscented products on him :)
