    Hi
I bought the Usha Allure sewing machine 2 weeks back. It is only Rs6750(without exchange). Bought it from the Usha showroom at Adayar(Opposite to Nalli showroom). They were also having exchange offer. It is really easy to use it and having almost all functionality like button hole stiching, buttons stiching, interlocking, pico, patchwork stiches, hemming stich etc. Usha stich magic was double the price, so went for this one. Number of embroidery stiches was more in Stich magic, but all other functionality were similar.

Usha Janome or Stitch Magic - Sewing machine

    Hi everybody,
I am a fresher to this forum and have been here with some purpose. Actually, I was planning to buy a usha janome sewing m/c and searching the internet extensively to arrive at the right model but without any luck. In the process, I found this website also where some informations were there but not upto the mark, at least as far as janome sewing m/cs are concerned. After some deliberations, I bought the Usha Janome Allure (Rs7900/-) some days back and thought of sharing my experience with my net-mates so that someone else can get benefitted by the information I give.
I have experience of using usha tailor and usha roopa m/cs since long and decided to go for a higher model of late. In fact, I found so many problems with the Roopa model I was using that led me nurture negative impression about Usha company. It appeared that the whole product is moulded out of cast iron which loses its designed form easily. Anyway, after seeing the janome, my idea changed and thought of exchanging Roopa with a janome. Finally, shortlisted Stitchmagic ang Allure and bought the Allure a few weeks back.
The reason of choosing Allure over Stitchmagic is the huge price difference with not so impacting functional difference. After using it for a few days, simply fell in love with it. Believe me, it’s a giant leap ahead of the traditional models like Tailor or Roopa. It’s immaculately and thoughtfully designed to give troublefree stitching on every type of fabric.
If the traditional models are amby cars, this one is merc, just go for it if you can afford. Its lighter, smaller, more functional, easy to carry, aesthetic and above all trouble free. Stitch magic gives wider choice of zigzag stitches, automatic button holing etc. I found button holing in Allure a bit difficult that needs some hand perfection, but its automatic and easy in Stitchmagic. So, my suggestion is, if some one is going for home use, Allure is enough; however Stitchmagic will give better output for professional use.:)

    Hi Everyone,
This thread had 'opened my eyes'.
Wondering what....my mother has this passion for stitching and she has been using this traditional Singer machine for the past 20 years :).
I never realized that we get this easy-carry sewing machines due to technology improvement. I was totally ignorant.
This thread made me realize it's high time i get one for mom.

And i want to do it right away. So please help me decide folks...
She generally stitches saree blouse and does alterations and some embroidery based on her free time. I still remember her fiddling with the big wheel of the sewing machine when the wire gets cut out. I don't know y it did not even strike me to get a hassle free sewing machine:-(
So which model would help her? Ur suggestions pls...

    Hi Jaya,

I have a Usha StichMagic for the past 3 yrs now. Although I have not tried the machine for professional purpose, so far I am very happy with my machine. I agree with PankajDC's earlier comment on Usha Allure & Usha StichMagic. If your mom will be using it heavily and if the price diff does not matter then go for StichMagic. StichMagic has Built-in needle threader which might make needle threading a lot easier for any user and Drop feed for embroidery. Otherwise, Usha Allure is perfectly fine. I also recomend that you go to Usha showroom and see their Demo with various models.
You can see these models at their website:
