    Dear Ilites,

I am here seeking book suggestions for new moms to help overcome the stress parenting brings, self help book to boast my confidence as a mother & trust my choices.

Just to provide the background, I am 8months post partum. Miserably failed in breastfeeding (All thanks to my unsupportive MIL), ending up pumping and feeding my LO. Gave up pumping few weeks ago since i have too much on my plate & keeping up with everything was taking a toll on my mental health, at times i am guilty formula feeding but i know fed is best & more importantly my lillte girl needs a happy mom.

I am surely trying to seek professional help since i have extermely strong emotional waves, meltdowns here & there. It may be PPD, i am yet to see someone & confirm.

Each day i have about 2 to 3hrs in hand while my lil one naps on me/ my lap. I dont prefer sleeping during this time. Normally i am browsing, spending this time on social media or shopping. I want to use this time for something better.

Appreciate all your help. Thanks in advance!

I can recommend a mom's support group that might help. Find the MOBI (Mother's Overcoming Breastfeeding Issues) Facebook page and write to them - MOBI Support Group

I joined them back when they were a Yahoo group, and these women held my hand through some rough times. I connected with moms around the world who shared their own journeys with me. They made me feel understood, something folks around me at the time, including my husband, were failing miserably at.

This MOBI article on PPD might be a good place to start. This book listed in their references might be worth checking out — the Amazon reviews look good: This Isn't What I Expected: Overcoming PPD.

    HTH!
