    Its so liberating to arrive at this at last. At long last, i mean.
    Nothing matters. Really.
    Nothing has meaning. Nothing NEEDS meaning.
    Things are. World is. I am.
    Good.
    Looking for meaning, rationale, purpose , so unnecessary.
    Why the need to justify BEING ? No, really, whats the bleeding need ?

    Come into Being.
    Stone, jellyfish, coconut tree, god, goat, mankind - come into Being.
    There are natural laws : Be, Become , Blow out.
    Follow, Function, Fadeout.
    What's the fuss. Really, whats the fuss ?

    Why imagine an Intelligence, an Intellect, a Reasoning, higher than what a jellyfish has ? Actually, the jellyfish is a much better cog in the cosmic machinary , causing no intrusions or violations as it goes about its business of living.
    The jellyfish is Happy. Prove it is not.
    It is not looking for it. For Happy ,i mean.
    It does not know, may not know, "Happy " exists.
    Things happen. It may react. May, not sure.
    But ,lives on, lives out, no sweat.
    Jellyfish dont wonder " why " either. Good life.

    Perhaps, ( no, most probably), " Happy " is nothing. And Non-Happy , too. Really.
    Just a miasma that came out of the head. Some thing wonder-full , dreamy, fanciful.
    How beautiful, the word arrangements in classical sonnets.
    How dreamy the tonal variations of Raag Thodi .
    How wonderful the commingling colours in the caves of Ajanta !
    Fanciful. Manmade. Conjured.
    Like , Happy.
    And Meaning. And Purpose.

    No, you got me all wrong. Nothing happened.
    Really. No tragedy befell. Nothing stirred or shaken.
    Things are, as were.
    World is, as is.
    I am , as was. Ever.

    But resting in fine shade. Done with the marathons.

    It is so Liberating. Wanted to share.
    Cannot share the caramel custard i am eating as i write this. My midnight snack.

    Hi Manju
    Let me have the pleasure of giving my first feedback.

    I don't know what made you come to this conclusion; no, not going to ask.
    However, that was my frame of mind after after Carl Sagan's COSMOS series about 28 years ago.
    When he took a handful of sand and declared that you and I and all things on this earth are nothing but "star stuff" something in me broke the tie of attachment and for many months I was living with a calm and peace that was indescribably peaceful.

    You have, after so many years described that feeling.
    Very beautifully, very clearly and with poetry to boot.

    However, now i have learnt to appreciate everything - the dark with the light, the good with the bad. Raag Thodi is as sweet as a baby's talk or the Beethoven's concertos, the paintings in Ajanta are as beautiful as Monet's or Vinci's, Niagra or Kutrallam, there is beauty in everything.

    Your writing is just as beautiful!

    MR - Nice one.

    Nothing does have a meaning.

    Nothing = 0 = Nirvana

    To achieve Nirvana , you ought to give Everything that you possessed.

    Hence Nirvana = Nothing = 0 = Everything.

    Dear Manjureddy,

    I feel bored of just being (I am not an enlightened soul, not going to reach that stage in the near future). Still in the marathon. Want meaning of life, ambitions, rationality, some likes and dislikes. See beauty in some things and not in everything. Nothing wrong with this attitude, I guess.
    Yes, I too cannot share Caramel custard and many other things also.

    What a beautiful flow of thoughts this is! Almost like Jean-Paul Sartre revisited except that this is lot more poetic and mentally stimulating. The existentialist guys believed that there was no purpose behind creation of anything which amounted to negating the existence of a creator. But we are not talking about purpose here. We are talking of how it matters if we are humans or pigs. And there is no question of why a man is a man or a pig is a pig. There is no need to justify the form we have in this existence.

    The most revered Saiva Saint Manicka Vasagar makes no difference among the various forms of life including a stone or a blade of grass in Siva Puranam. He sings that he has gone through it all including a tree and a worm and finally found his true calling. Yes. What’s the fuss really? You have voiced the true spirit of the highest form of spiritualism in those words.

    I am awed by your example of the jellyfish. It is a great irony that a man is at his highest vanity imagining that the bestowal of human form makes him an intellectual capable of reasoning out the purpose of his being here. It is audacious on his part to consider the likes of jellyfish as the ‘lesser beings’ without knowing that they hardly cause any hindrance to the smooth running of the cosmic machinery and that all the hindrance comes only from him. Jellyfish has a mind of its own which it probably uses for higher degree of contemplation than us as the great Saints could see.

    I can see you are blissful knowing that happiness is as empty as non-happiness. All empty, short-lived feelings but being blissful is more permanent. A soulful rendering of a Raaga by a consummate artist does not make us happy. It makes us feel sublime. All good feelings are not of the same genre. Happiness is a fleeting state that never lasts. Being in a state of bliss is everlasting.

    Why am I saying all this to you? Do I imagine you to be in an introspective mood? I do not know. I do not know the state of my own mind now. Not even if I have a mind of my own.

    Dear Manju,

    Once I live as a being
    There is no beginning, there is no end;
    There is no pleasure, there is no pain;
    There is peace, there is Bliss;

    "I am" is infinite
    Where is the need for it to be finite?
    Breaking the barrier of the mind will
    make me a Being

    There is no me, there is no God
    There is only One without a second;
    Me and mine is the making of the mind
    which disappears once I bury desires & attachments.

    What is there for me to know
    If I am the Knower and the Known
    Instead of breaking my head on incomprehensible
    Let me control, alter and delete my mind.

    What is there for me to long
    If I know everything has come from One;
    Being a Being is the only way
    I learn to break the journey.

    I am a traveler as long as
    I am this body and mind;
    Once I become a Being
    I remain at home.

    Let "I am" remain undefined
    as I always exist forever;
    I am home, I am home, I am home
    I don't need a home run.

    Viswa

    Note: You deserve a caramel custard for coming up with those excellent words of wisdom. By the way, what do you add to your caramel custard to come up with a post like this?

    Manju ji...Thanks for the rare visit and the gyan!

    Well, gyan in as much as I understood. Even as you went on to elucidate the importance of just being, I knew the responses the snippet will elicit will not leave me be! I read and re-read all and decided, I shall let it be! I'll be the jellyfish. Suits me just fine!

    But then, eating caramel custards perhaps is the easy way to attain that what is lacking in me...the Knowledge. I shall just go hunt my refrigerator for some and maybe my next response to you will be more enticing?! ideasmiley

    Always nice to see you here, do come often!

    Dear Kkrish : thanks lots. Even if you ask why i concluded so, i wouldnt know what to say. Thoughts occur, period......
    Sagan, yes. Loved that bloke, his " cosmos", his heart - on-sleeve earnestness .......
    But why think I dont appreciate stuff ? That i dont see beauty anywhere ? Be assured, I am no dried up zombie in Padmasana, staring at nothingness .
    I Love this world . Everything. Everyone. But , done with analysis.......what poetry ? Its just a stuccato of thoughts. Thats how thoughts appear, isnt it , in stuccato, like abrupt sprays of a lawn sprinkler.
    Bits of paper, bits of paper, lying on the ground ! Pick them up, picked them up.
