    I bought this rice cooker recently and I heard it removes starch from the white/brown rice effectively. We have cooked the rice using this cooker today and the rice looks good but yet to taste the rice. Here is the video of this cooker if anyone is interested in Ultra diet rice cooker.

    @malis123,

    The rice came out very well and tasted a little different perhaps because it removed most of the starch. But when mixed with Sambar or Rasam, it tastes very good. Especially for those who are prediabetic or diabetic, this could work very well.

    The design is a little complicated. We need to be careful about closing the cooker as there is a good chance the lid has a tendency to go on a wrong thread. The weight has to be in place when we keep the cooker in the stove. The weight has two pins that move out when we pressure the weight to settle inside the groove. It has a usual rubber gasket around the lid. There is a plate with a hole that we need to keep at the bottom of the cooker. The keep the container with multiple holes at the bottom on top of it and fill water up to the level marked inside the cooker. The water should come inside the container with the holes a little. Then fill the rice to the extent needed and pour more water as needed for the rice to cook. We need to keep the rice cooking until it makes four whistles. When you take out the container, we need to keep it on top of another container for a while for the water in the rice to drain. Now, you have rice with most starch removed.

    Overall, it is a good buy, if you like to eat diet rice.

    Awesome and the starch can be used for beauty treatments. What is the minimum amount of rice that one can cook sir ?

    Shiny new stainless steel utensils are always fun to view, and then lament the lack of kitchen counter space (or storage space when not used) for such things.

    The major difference between UD-cooker and the Straino cooker is how the starchy-water from the cooker is removed.
    • UD-cooker makes the rice in a colander on stilts, and lets the starchy water get filtered and collect in the sump area.
    • Straino cooker uses the internal higher pressure to pump the starchy water through a filter and out via an exit pipe. The video
    For those of us who don't want to buy another pressure pot to make rice, we could try "the colander on stilts" scheme at home in the cooker (regular pressure cooker, or instant pot) we already have at home.

    Here is one outlet that is selling a strainer for any cooker or instant pot you already own.
