    Dear IL friends,

I am a working mother. My elder daughter 18 yrs was diagonised with PCOS two years back. Since she had regular periods so the doc did not prescribe any meds. Actually I had gone to the Hair Specialist as she was losing a lot of hair. Now I am very very worried as her scalp can be seen and she is losing a lot of confidence and self-esteem. Her periods are regular but earlier they would last for 5 days now they are for 2 to 3 days. What should I do ?. She also has a lot of acne on her arms and legs. She is 60 kgs in weight and height is 5 ft 2inches.
Should I try Ayurvedic or Homeopathic treatment ? Can you suggest any Ayurvedic or Homeopathic docs in Mumbai who are known for their treatment for PCOS. Any such doctors who have benefitted our IL community. I have been to a homeopathic doctor before but no solution.

Your valuable advise is awaited urgently. The advise is very valuable to me as it is for my DD.
I get very very worried at times have sleepless nights over this issue. Please help. Thanks for taking time to read my post.

    Thanks in advance,

    SHSK

    Hugs to you both.

    Harmones do play their role.

You had mentioned that your daughter weighs 60 kg and is 5.2" tall. I feel she is little over her BMI. weight between 54 and 56 kg is ideal. So do concentrate on healthy way of weight reduction for PCOS. (also do check her T3, T4, TSH levels after talking to the doctor who is treating her. Have you discussed about the hair fall issue with the doctor before?)

Regarding hair fall, give sufficient nourishment externally as well as internally. You can check here for the nourishment that you can provide her at home.

You may consult an ayurveda doctor in any 'kottakal ayurveda pharmacy' that may be near your area. You may check with your local search engine to get the details on the same.

    best wishes.

I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 14. Am 28 now. Over the years, I've tried Ayurvedic, Homeopathy and allopathy. Ayurvedic and homeopathy did not work. Not at least for me. But, I can say confidently that maintaining a healthy weight and diet for pcos would work wonders. Shes young and did not gain much weight. Its easy to reduce little and maintain the ideal weight now. Women with pcos have varied symptoms and effects. Hairloss, unwanted hair, acne, obesity, infertility , type 2 diabetes, delayed/absent periods, depression and mood swings are the main effects. (there are many more, these being common) A pcos woman may have some or all of the effects. As for the hairloss, I totally agree with mimur9.
Dont worry and never loose hope. Be strong and determine to fight back. Yes, we are gonna win! Currently, am trying to conceive and am having big time trouble getting preggy :-(

    Dear Mimur and Twinkel,
Thanks for your immediate replies. Just reading your posts with sincere replies has brought tears to my eyes. I am thankful to IL for helping me discuss my problems which otherwise I am not able to discuss with anybody.
My DDs testosterone level level is slightly higher than the normal levels.
We do have a 'kottakal ayurveda pharmacy' in Vile-Parle. Does it have a Ayurvedic doc there ? Can you breif me the procedure. Sorry to trouble you again.

    Thanks once again friends,
    SHSK

SHSK, All kotakkal pharmacy has doctors visiting at a particular day and time. Do call and check with them. Best wishes.

Twinkle, the first key to conception is keeping yourself free of worries. If you eat green peas, reduce its intake as it is believed to reduce the chance for conception as per siddha medicine. Relax and increase positive thoughts. Refer to the post here where you will find success stories. http://www.indusladies.com/forums/g...dex-important-useful-threads.html#post2503712. Yeah mimur, am trying my best to stay calm. Moreover, am married just for 8 months, so I think I have time in my hand to try. But I just cant help myself and I endup thinking about pcos and getting preggy. I had excessive unwanteed hair, obesity, hairloss, acne, recently, type 2 diabetes , but, never in my life I felt so low and depressed. I've always been a strong woman, but this one issue is making me weak :-(

You are not weak dear. You just got carried away by those thoughts. You have plenty of time to try for natural conception.

Calculate the ovlulation time of that particular month (you get kits to find it out in case you could not calculate it accurately) and try during that time which increase the chances. you may refer to this thread http://www.indusladies.com/forums/gynaecology/195558-do-you-know-when-you.html
