    Hi all,
I'm in need of suggestions and/or tips to plan a trip to Las Vegas(LV) and Los Angles(LA) with my parents(as they are here in USA now) during xmas vacation. In total, it will be me, my DH, my parents and DS(who is under 2) so in total 5 of us. We will be flying to Las vegas and then will have a road trip to Los Angles. So, with parents and a toddler, how can we make this trip a less tiresome but more fun. We plan to stay two nights in LV and may be 3 nights in LA. We want to take them to casino, some shows...In LA, we want to take them to universal studio(and not to Disney as my parents may not go for all the rides). That's the high level plan. Please, pour in your suggestions as to what may make it a worthy trip? Like which places to visit and what to cover? Universal studio and shows seems so expensive...we want to make it an affordable trip. So any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

PS: I posted this in under 'Relationships - Parents & Siblings' forum but did not receive any reply. May be this is the right forum. Hoping to get replies in here and any tips.

I would say it is going to be expensive but will it be worth ,yes it will , bcz it’s not something doing it again n again. Try to book early with hotels so u get discounts n on planes as well .
Universal studio is good actually and take them to San Diego too it’s fun there too..I remember me n my hubby had took inlaws to Grand Canyon then Las Vegas it was road trip n did the dam n helicopter ride . I think u can do helicopter ride then Vegas show . It’s just my opinion ..
yes disney it’s not worth taking parent if they don’t love rides n it will tire them a lot .

Check the Fire Maps on google around the LA area. There was one not far from Pasadena / Sierra Madre location. Air quality is not good. It would be bad to take a child there. As for parents, it would depend on whether... never mind.

After Vegas, drive the other way, towards Phoenix. Visit Hoover Dam and the South rim of the Grand Canyon. The scenery would be good, and the air is clean in December. You can stock up on good take-along food at Trader Joe's in Las Vegas, if the parents have any food preferences (vegetarians, for example), and take along a portable gas stove, and a few gas bottles.

Happy wild fire season to you !!

We've done both, though technically not during Christmas holidays - it was during thanksgiving.

    Las Vegas
    - try to book one of the "nice" hotels -Venetian, Cesar's palace, Aria, etc. Some of the cheaper hotels (on the strip, like New York, New York) have extreme bedbugs infestation.
    - the strip is tough to walk with elderly parents and babies. They have skywalks now, which is nice, but not all of them have elevators or escalators (just stairs). But keep in mind, parking is free, in the big casinos. High traffic makes it a pain to drive though, so consider getting a bus pass for the strip.
    - some of the casinos are really smokey and uncomfortable for nonsmokers and babies. The nicer ones aren't - just a heads up
    - there are quite a few indian restaurants on the strip. I can't comment on the quality of the food, but it's not cheap. Try looking for restaurants outside of the strip- more value for the money. If you are at all like me, and traveling with toddlers kills my energy and desire travel, try door dash (app)
    - book the show ahead of time...the goodone of sell out or they are marked up.

    LA
    - universal - is my favorite. Download their app, and it makes the experience so much better
    - Disneyland- we felt like it was a waste of time. No one , including my toddler enjoyed it since it was so crowded. Everyone got tired from waiting in kiddie ride lines. Finding vegetarian food was a real pain- it exists, but best to pack good and go
    - beaches - always worth it
    - griffin observatory is nice and laid back
    - traffic sucks
    - food options are plentiful, especially if looking for Indian or vegan options.

The air quality is really bad around LA due to the fire . So before planning your trip make sure everything safe and secure.
