Tourist spots near Nainital

Hi, I am planning to visit Nainital next month. Can anyone tell me some adjacent tourist destinations available near Nainital which I can include in my trip?

I wanted to know about some nearby destinations so that we can include these destinations also in our trip since there is not much to sightsee in Nainital except for the nine lakes.

Can anybody also tell me about some reasonable resorts available in the hill station for family stay?

Dear Mona
I suggest you include a trip to the G B Pant High Altitude Zoo. The Zoo is located 2 kms from the bus depot. I enjoyed my trip to the zoo. The zoo has many animals like Leopard Hill Fox, Siberian Tiger, Palm Civet Cat, Wolf, Silver Phesant, Barking Deer, Sambhar, Monkeys, Rose Ringed Parakeet.
The zoo is a good oppurtunity to introduce the kids to the wide variety of animals found in Indian sub continent.

Dear Mona
One of the high points of my trip to Nainital was the trip by Ropeway. The Aerial Ropeway starts at Mallital and goes to Snowview Point which is located at a height of 2275 mts above sea level. The Ropeway trolley takes about 2.5 min to complete the trip. The Ropeway is open seven days a week.
The Snow view Point is a tourist destination in itself. You can see the majestic Himalayan range. One can easily spot the peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nandakot.

I suggest you include a trip to the Eco Cave Garden. The place has artificial caves of various wild animals. It is located about 1km from Mallital.Then of course there is China Peak. It is located at a height of 2615 m above sea level. It is located 6 km north of Mallital. The point has excellent views of snow clad Himalayan ranges.

If you have time leftover in your vacation, you can go to places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussorie or even Delhi. All these destinations are about 230-250 kms from Nainital.
