The Mewar festival is celebrated in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Udaipur to welcome the arrival of spring. The Mewar festival coincides with the festival of Gangaur, another popular festival in Udaipur. The festival has its own unique charm.
The main highlight of the festival is the ceremonial procession of colorfully attired women folks carrying images of the Goddess Gauri through different parts of the city to Lake Pichola. The images are then transferred to special boats at Gangaur ghat, Lake Pichola. Festivities and cultural events include joyous singing, dancing, devotional music concerts and impressive firework displays. Through these festivities Rajasthani culture is portrayed beautifully. :)
