After excluding full time comedies, thrillers and all those wonderful movies which leaves you heavy-hearted (most of KB's movies come under this category, they leave you with mixed emotions far from feeling good!!) from the list, here comes my list of Feel Good Movies -

1. Kannathil Muththamittal (Tamil)
After KB (K Balachander), Mani Ratnam is my second favourite. I love his screenplay and when Sujatha's dialogues and AR Rahman's music join the combo, its a feast. Esp. Kannathil Muththamittal is my all time fav. The little girl's acting, Madhavan and Simran's matured and poetic delivery and Nandhita who steals the show with just her expressions in the last few minutes, rerecording of ARR, esp. in the Climax and those poetic little dialogues of Sujatha. There are so many things I adore about this movie.

2. Mouna Raagam (Tamil)
Again a Mani Ratnam feast. Those single worded deliveries and the looks/expressions that follows. Ilaiyaraja's songs and BGM pouring life and emotion into the movie. And, of course the lovely acting of Karthick, adorable performance - No one who watched this movie can ever forget him yelling "Mr Chanramouli!!"

3. Anbe Shivam (Tamil)
My all time favourite from Kamal Hassan's list. There are a lot of little positive philosophies this movie convey all along. None of my words can do justice to what I feel about this movie. Its like a river that flows calmly and effortlessly in spite of the depth is has. The lead's positive attitude towards life after everything it had thrown at him and yet his longing for a family which makes him more human. Again classic dialogues, in which those philosophies are wrapped in. Madhavan's (second lead) acting, esp. when he says , "Idhenna Kadhala asingama sollikite irukarathuku" is such a classic.

4. Taare Zameen Par (Hindi)
Ishanth with his adorable smile and he can melt any heart with his innocent crying. There are many places in the movie where I was teary-eyed and had tears of joy towards the climax. A masterpiece from Aamir Khan.

5. Mozhi (Tamil)
Jothika's effortless acting as a deaf and dumb but an independant, strong woman. The hilarious humour that is woven into the story-line all along. I still laugh my heart out every time I watch the comedy track. A very poetic love story which touches on so many other little things other than love.

Special Mention to "Bangalore Days" (Malayalam) and "Premam" (Malayalam) - Loved both these movies for the practical story line and the poetic screenplay. Anyone with cousins who are more friends than relatives can relate to Bangalore Days very well. And, Premam speaks the beauty of love - No matter what the ending is, the journey of love is just beautiful!!

PS - Sorry about writing an essay under the name of a list. Couldn't help it - It is such pleasure talking(writing) about something you loved.

 

Kanda Naal Mudhal and Nala Dhamayandhi are wonderful movies. I loved them too!
