Both Sunday and Monday I cleared two cabinets each.
I did not have much to throw out- so was pleased with myself.

Sharing some tips that have been helpful for decluttering/organizing:

    - Create a space: There is a nice saying: A place for everything and everything in its place. It is important to create a specific space for each object.

    - Access: While creating a space, keep in mind the usage, if something is used everyday - it should be very easily accessible that you can just quickly take out and put back. On the other hand, something used occasionally can be put higher up/somewhere back. If things are accessible, they are more likely to be put back in place.

    - Maximizing space usage: Think of space usage in a horizontal and vertical direction to make the most of the available space. E.g: space dividers for vertical usage, stackable shelfs, laying boxes sideways instead of flat.

    - Grouping: Group all objects that belong to a category in one space or maybe a couple, but the idea is to not have a single category spread out over multiple different spaces. For e.g: group all hair clips together in one box and have it in just one single space.

    - Flow: Another saying: Things that go together, stay together. After grouping objects, keep all the groups that go together nearby or if there a lot of small objects grouped in small boxes, put them all in a big box/tray. For e.g: using the hair clips example again, all hair accessories can go together, so hair clips in a box, hair brushes/combs, hair bands, etc. can all be in one tray, instead of being spread out.

    - Decluttering: Empty out all the objects in a cabinet into a big box. Create categories and group the objects from the box into those categories. Within each category, check if any are broken/need to be fixed etc., and sort it out. While putting things back, the above tips can be used.

Decluttering - very interesting task mam,

Just before starting the fasting, the whole house was spring cleaned. Esp. cleaned and washed nook and corner, cupboards , racks etc. Stocked kitchen with fresh groceries.

So I took up toys, clothes, and books - (stationery)

This week was/is books. Checked all the books mainly kids , sorted out and kept books (pencils, crayons) for donating, and created spaces. Still little more sorting out is there, will do it today and tomorrow.

    Next week will be clothes.

    shara
