    Hi kkrish,
Ulli theeyal is a coconut based gravy with small onions or sambar onions.
    Recipe:
    • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
    • 1 cup coconut
    • 2 teaspoon coriander seeds
    • 6 dried red chillies
    • For the Gravy
    • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
    • 20 shallots, chopped
    • 2 sprigs curry leaves
    • lime size tamarind
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup thick coconut milk
    • For the Tempering
    • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
    • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
    • 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
    • 2 sprig curry leaves
    1. Heat 2 tablespoon of coconut oil in a pan. Add in the coriander seeds, dried red chillies and fresh shredded coconut. Fry on medium flame, sauteing constantly until the coconut turns golden. Grind the masala to a fine paste without adding any water.
    2. Heat oil in a pan and add in the curry leaves and the chopped shallots. Fry till the shallots are soft and slightly starting to brown. Add in the tamarind juice, the theeyal masala, turmeric and the salt. Let it simmer in medium flame for 10 minutes.
    3. After 10 minutes, the oil will separate and float on top. Now add in the coconut milk and let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Switch off the flame. And do tempering

:shakehead::crybaby2:No ma...I wish. Its relatively free of clutter..but with every room in the house converted into basket ball court/soccer field most times of the day..
My idea of decoration is limited to keeping strictly those which can survive a hurricane.
Amazing..would love to know more. Can u please share more pics and some ideas?
I really need something these days to calm my mind.

Well that's how it was when my boys were home too!
I joined IL initially to combat loneliness after my second one left.
I am now eagerly waiting for grandkids to mess up my home now... :)

Here is the link to my thread:
The initial steps of making Saraswathi

Not sure if it will be of help. The Saraswati face did not come out well. During that time I was disturbed by many unfortunate happenings in our family.

My work is a far cry from my grandfathers' work - the picture is in that thread itself, only it is turned sideways. Not sure why.
