    Sweet Bonda (unsure of name)

    Hello.... with my recent visit to Chennai I tried some of the "sweet Bonda" ( sorry I am not sure what it is called. I have tried searching for the recipe on AskChitvish but am not sure what this is called to search for it. It was really very nice and want to make it for my family. Please help with the name and recipe???

    Thank you for the prompt response. There is no stuffing. It looks just like the potato bonda just sweet.

    It is just a maida + sugar dough, deep fried. Similar to sweet diamond cut biscuits.

    Hi.I am not too sure about the sweet bonda you are describing.However, in Maharashtra we have something similar called umbar which is made using wheat flour,jaggery and bananas and deep fried like a bonda.It tastes amazing.It is brown in colour and has an uneven texture unlike a regular bonda.Is this the one you are looking for?

    Are you talking abbout sugiyan. It is a sweet that is regional. A chana dal, jaggery,coconut mix ball dipped in a batter and fried.


    I am sure there is a recipe for the same in chitvish forum

    I have tried looking up pics of this and some call it Gulgoolas...though I cant find the recipe as the one we had in Chennai T Nagar didn't have any filling[​IMG]

    Yes, it's Gulgula .... we make it with wheat flour and jaggery. till now I was thinking it's Odiya dish but seems in other state also they do gulgula.
