Parrot on the shoulder (for example, Goddess Meenakshi, or Kamakshi) symbolism is supposed to be about truth, the experience of longevity, and all good things. However, we have more lessons from a parable of the inner monkey, than any parrot on the shoulder. Google "inner monkey" and check it out for yourself. "Let people stroke your monkey", says one web page. Something that is the equivalent of "put it up the flagpole, and see who salutes". That is exactly what is happening here. Members put up the shenanigans of their inner monkeys, and see what others think of that. :tongueclosed:

    Dear Hari,
Without inner me outer me will become unfunctional. It needs the guidance of inner me for functioning.
Beware! Smoking and drinking is injurious to health.

It is clearly written on the cigarette packets and whiskey bottles, yet the sale goes up every year and governments earn huge revenues. Where ever the sale is banned, the bootleggers flourish.
Defeat of the inner 'me' or human weakness.

I think the inner or outer me never tire or sleep. They are struggling even in when the body sleeps.
The moot point is do we always do what our inner me tells us to do. Or we simply preach but do not practice.

Inner, outer, and you ought to have some fun, all together. Otherwise, there'd be three wastrels, getting bored together -- like that famous Alex Dumas characters who yelled together:"one for all, and all for one".
When you have to smoke, you smoke a good one, the best, if you can get it. Same with drinking or eating. And take your company along, both of them.

Very sane advice. I prefer not to preach at all. It doesn't do any good.
