Now here’s another new dimension for the worried Indian parents to worry some more.

Perhaps , the NRI parents need not worry so much. But as per results of National Family Health Survey 2015-16 and 2005-06, Indian men , on average are shorter by 1 cm. However, Indian women remained the same.

This may imply that Indian children may no longer outgrow their parents.

Also , guess what here again, China takes the lead!! When and where do they stop :( !

In 1896 Indian men(162 cm) were a cm taller than their chinese (161cm) counterparts. However, a century later the average Indian Man’s height could grow only to 165 cm, whereas the Chinese , hold your breath are at 171.8 cm.!!!

They must be doing something right .

I have been incessantly worrying about my daughter’s height , these past few weeks and this does give the worry more ammunition !

FUN FACT : SOUTH KOREAN WOMEN and IRANIAN men have gained the most ,in terms of average height in the century from 1896 to 1996, 20.2 cm and 16.5 cm taller respectively

Indian children may no longer outgrow parents

So the first thing which came to my mind is "make Indian men do more household work " ha ha even though the article doesn't specify anything related to that. ;);)
Anyway have you put your daughter in any form of sports ? Basket ball or swimming should help..

:clap2::clap2: Hey, so do the Chinese men do more work around the household?
Also, With the Indian women doing so much housework, hasn't really contributed much to increase in their average heights ;) ;(

Thanks dear! Yup, she does a bit :)... hope it helps ;)

    Thanks for the response!

    5. The average height or tallness of the citizen of a Nation is largely depended on geographical conditions and ethnicity. Hybrid versions excluded!

Sir, but this is what is proving to be not the case with China!
Heredity seems to be playing a small role in the height , with mother and child nutrition, environmental factors, physical activity ...contributing to the height !

Quoting form the article below :
"Genes contribute to only a small portion of adult height, while environmental factors including mother’s health, infant and child nutrition, sanitation and environmental pollution explain the bulk of the difference in growth in height between groups, research has shown. "

The above may not be a completely scientific statement, but the results over the years coupled with the China factor, does show that there might have been some deficiencies in the approach being followed in our nation.

"Some more data must be available for better correlation than viewing the statistics in isolation of possibly all other other factors. "

The above statement i completely agree with. The content was just posted with the intention to think about it a bit. :)

    Rambling as ever!
The height of men down the four Yugas:
    10 Feet- Sat Yuga
    8 Feet- Treta Yuga
    6 Feet- Dwapar Yuga
    4 Feet- Kali Yuga
The degeneration applies mainly to Indian Hindu Aryans.

    That is an interesting rambling!!
will have to dig up more sometime :)

So this degeneration in the 'height ' context seems tested!

R there any other de-generational contexts also , yug wise ;)

Yes of course. It's the age of people:
Satya Yuga:- Average human lifespan was 100,000 years.
Treta Yuga: - Average human lifespan was 10,000 years.
Dwapar Yuga: - Average human lifespan was 1000 years.
Kali Yuga: - Average human lifespan will be 100 years, and will decrease gradually. (From Hindu Mythology)
