That's okay Rasi so long as the husband agrees. Many people known to me have done that.

    Hi Sridhar,
I am a reader of all most of your stories andposts. As other ILites said I dont think its vulgar...infact I remeber seeing a malayalam movie portraying almost the same story.I dont remember the name but it was from mid'80s or something. The couple wont have child due to the guy's problem and he urges his bestfriend and wife to sleep together. But his friend and wife disagrees and they even have a verbal fight. But after sometime, friend's wife goes home for delivery and somehow this fellow and the heroine ends up sleeping. When hero comes to know about this he creates issues. When it was his wish that his wife had to sleep with his friend he had no issues ,but when it happened like this he wasnot able to digest it.

    Hi

You have written a fabulous portrayal of the things going around in the world in the name of western culture.

And this post also describes about the male chauvinism. How mean people are ???????

they have a designed structure of rules favoring for themselves and rules desinged to criticise women.

I dont know when the world is going to change from this ?????????

    Hatts off to you

Its a nice story i didn't find anything offending in it. I'd back Anita for her decision. But frankly i would vote for adopted child over this idea. How many real children of brilliant of attractive people are like them? Then we would have generations of Newtons, Bells, Meena Kumaris. Its better to bring the child up your way than expecting him/her to be perfectly coming to world with your characteristics.

    Sridhar Sir

At the face of it, when I read the story I really had high respect for Raj...but slowly some how I felt Anitha was being trapped when he was talking about Girish. I was praying inside that anitha shouldnt fall into this trap just for having a child..(sleeping with someone???)i was ok with the idea of having a sperm donor...Anitha took a good step in asking that question of changing the person from Girish to her cousin Rishi...

whether it was a test for Raj or not...finally she is saved from one big mistake she was about to make in her life...

good moral out of the story.....from outside lot of us appear very broad minded and understanding..but are we really the same from inside..from our heart???

    Dear Sridhar Uncle

A story posted by you in 2006 is getting rave reviews even now! This shows your popularity here on IL, which is because of your great stories.

I didnt expect that the older generation (thats your generation!) could be so open-minded to even think, forget write, about such topics!

A standing-ovation to Anita for her act! We may get influenced by the western culture, but our traditions are so deeply rooted, that we cant break off! I think she told her husband about her cousin Rishi just to know his real feelings. She would not have actually gone ahead with Rishi ... Thats how I interpreted her actions ...

But coming to think of it, its kind of wierd that they didnt want to adopt a child ... illogical reasoning about lineage and crap!End of the day, its all in the upbringing ...

P.S.: This story is not at all obscene or vulgar ... most our film 'item numbers' stand as a perfect description to these words!!!

    Dear Ami,
First forgive me for the inordinate delay in replying to your fb. Somehow this slipped out of my mind and only when Swetha wrote a fb today I came here to find that many of the earlier fb's have not been responded. I'm sorry, Ami.
That Malayalam film story is quite unique. I salute the Malyali directors who don't hesitate to handle such different complex themes. Whereas in other languages we are still stuck with a rich guy loving a poor girl (or vice versa)
Unfortunately for me none of the Tamil or English magazines was willing to publish the story (way too bold for our sentiments, was the editor's comments).
But I am happy that in IL people have an open mind approach even to such things.
Though the subject matter of the story is sex, the real core of the story is male chauvinism.
    thanks for your fb, Ami.
    love,
    sridhar

    Hi,

thanks for those nice words. And yes, I am terribly sorry for keeping you waiting for the reply for so long. Pl. forgive me.

Once one of my friends was describing the experiences he had with a call girl. I just reminded him if only his wife were to have similar experience with a "call-boy".. well this friend got angry and came to beat me.

But that's life. People always criticize me when I write about male escorts, male prostitutes. I write them not for bringing in lurid details. But for thrashing out the hidden chauvinism.
    thanks for the fb, Prettina.
    love,
    sridhar

Thanks Vaidehi. The whole idea behind Anitha suggesting some one is not to go astray but to make her husband realise his foolhardiness. But in the end Anitha realises that her husband is more chauvinistic than foolish.

These crazy solutions never work. As you said adoption is a far better option.

thanks for the fb. And I apologize for the delay in responding to it.
    love,
    sridhar

    Re: Well Written Sridhar

    Srividya,
All these crazy ideas have never worked in our culture. And our culture has remained great because of its strength when it comes to core values.

I wrote the story only with a view to bring out the enormous male chauvinism hidden within the depths of the society.

Writers have one important occupational hazard. They are mistaken for what they write. One of my friends think that I have gone astray several times over and that I advocate free sex and licentiousness. Nothing could be farther from truth.

I always alert my readers that I am not as good as my good characters. At the same time I also tell them that I am a teetotaller who has never gone astray, though my heros and heroines have swerved from the path of morality only to reinforce a greater morality.

Thanks for the fb, Srividya. And I am sorry I could not respond to it earlier. Please forgive me.
    love,
    sridhar
